Comcast reporting he signed, the Cubs denying it!

OH THE SUSPENSE!

Cause we need another bad arm

If this is a minimum deal, why not give it a shot?

Again, he is a slow starter. He could be completely done. He was supposedly contemplating retirement before signing with Arizona. But, if you are just trying him out? There are maybe 20 sure thing relievers in all of baseball. The rest is we'll see what happens. If Howry gets back on the gas, who knows. I'm not sayin...........

If they are counting on him, bad. If they are going to see what happens, it is a proven, yet currently bad arm.

Send him to extended spring training (which they won't as they're saying he'll join team Friday). At present, this guy is pitching batting practice, 6 HR's in 14.1 IP. Ouch!

Tim Stoddard must not have done so well in his bullpen session yesterday.

Could have had J.J. Putz or Takashi Seito or Matt Capps or Billy Wagner as free agents. Hell, they could have tried to get Rafael Soriano whom the Braves traded away too. But no....Hendry got nobody worthwhile and now he's looking at guys to pull off the scapheap. Yes, Howry is a slow starter that tends to do better later in the season, but at this point in his career, how much better is he likely to be? Mediocre??? Forgive me if this doesn't really excite me....

They designated David Patton to make room for Howry on the 40 man roster. I'll never understand what they saw to waste a roster spot on that turd.

This. I never understood Hendry's stubborness keeping him ont he roster last year to keep him for the Rule 5 stuff when he just blew.

This is is why I said the Ricketts didnt give a shit about this year. Did we really need Xavier Nady? or Jeff baker? on this team.

Baker no. He's 2010 Aaron Miles.
Nady is going to be a great bench player for the Cubs. He CAN hit, and when his arm is 100% he can play OF too. Even some 1st to back Lee. That was a good pickup. Upgrade over Blue Jesus.

Well, you just described Tyler Colvin who gets very little playing and needs AB's
Howry was not good today and the day he is gone needs to be adressed.
