This is great, because I was tired of baseball games sounding like baseball games. About time we got some Godsmack up in here. That'll make these guys hit.

Lolz. I just asked when it started in the Cubs V Sox thread. It is weird to hear at Wrigley.

Funny part is you'd think it'd be cheaper to pay an organist than license some of those god-awful pop tunes (RIAA will sue your ass beyond bankruptcy if you don't!)

Even with full-time organ, Pressy is seemingly only allowed to play generic stadium licks, Duke of Earl, and the Meow Mix jingle. I can't shake the feeling that we can and should have better organ accompaniment. Or we can have Franz Ferdinand.

Obviously it's not the wall of sound that the Barton must've been (I know it only from highlights), but the Lowrey is a pleasant and distinctive organ, and I'd always like to hear more of it. Organ music is baseball (and hockey). You can't take that away, especially not from Wrigley Field, the one place where it should be organ-only. Maybe Tom Ricketts found a way to have "Thunderstruck" sponsored by Square D surge protection or something.

No doubt Ricketts was happy with the Cost cutting measure of getting rid of the Live dixieland Ensemble, but as traditional as it was, nothing worse than having the 5 guys with horns and a banjo player stand right behdin you and start playing as loud as they can.

Wait, the old folks with banjos and brass are gone? They were there when I was last at a Wrigley game a few weeks back. I tipped them each five bucks to move along to another section before they could start blaring right in front of us.

+100 million zillion thousand.

I thought the Ricketts got it--Wrigley Field is the best place to watch baseball on the planet. Period. Few, if any, changes necessary. Oh well, go ahead--turn Wrigley into an Epcot theme restaurant/bar.

Glad that somebody still believes that Wrigley Field is the best place to watch a baseball game.
I'm relieved to know there is still good acid to be scored on the street.

I dunno, guys, Wrigley Field should be the one sporting venue where I don't have to live in fear of hearing "Kernkraft 400." Is this just me?

I'm tired of Ricketts proclaiming himself as a "fan", and as "family"...yet he's wrecking everything in trying to be some hip and acceptable dork

I was pissed when i noticed the green padding on the dugout benches on TV yesterday

for 90 years sitting on wooden benches was fine, but now it's not?

You seriously have a problem with padding the benches?

Why let them wear batting gloves? Or helmets?

They shouldn't wear socks because they are playing the Sox! Back in my day, we just wore a shoe sole with a strap. We didn't need no spikes or socks.

He's got a point. Uncomfortable benches at Wrigley have translated to stellar play on the field. Stupid Ricketts messing with success. Next think you'll hear is he'll want to get additional sponsors at Wrigley to make more money. Fool

yes...never once did I hear any player, manager, or member of the media complain about, or even mention, the bench in 25 years...the padding was put there because it's in every other new stadium in the country...again, Ricketts' attempt to look hip

exactly...changes are always under the guise that it will lead to more success...if that was the case, then the Rangers would be winning the World Series every year

and the Yankees wouldnt have won 4 titles early in the decade (they would have won last year even in the old stadium)

George: I like Christian rock. It's very positive. It's not like those real musicians who think they're so cool and hip.

Walk up music (and to a greater extent the goddamn between pitches canned music  ) was one of my biggest complaints about games at Comiskular.

On a related note, I wonder when Nancy Faust will get a statue..

As a Cubs fan, Nancy Faust is by far the best thing about the White Sox.
