Not sure I will be back in April unless the appropriate measures are taken to absolve this team of some of its issues. Might have to take a year off and really focus on following nationwide racing.

The Panic button is such a good mult. Rarely utilized but always makes good points.

I wish that button could do something else to that team.

I suppose I'm obligated to site thru a week in which they lost 6 straight by a total of 62 to 17 because I'm a fan of that.

Was that the day that Zambrano returned?

No, he returned in the early middle of it.

No trade clause!! When the team leader says through his actions that I don't give a shit about whats best for this team and don't care about winning, I just care about whats best for ME...It resonates through the clubhouse and you end up with this.

What does a team do with a guy like that if they had balls? They've got 0% chance of even breaking even this year, so a run is OVER and this season is a wash.
He's not playing well at all this year. At the bat or in the field.
Do you sit him 4 days a week and develop next year's youngster?
Pay off the contract and ask him to walk?
Iowa?
How do you handle this guy? Just do what they've done and trot his ass out there every day?

This is probably the best solution, IMHO

While I would love to see him put on waivers you can't. He will sign somewhere next year and I want that sandwich round pick they will get back as compensation. I would either officially announce his benching in favor of Hoff/Colvin for the rest of the year or I would 60 day DL him with a bullshit back injury which would open up a 40 man roster spot for someone. He isn't putting butts in seats so there is no reason to play him other than this broken ass record of "he has done great things for us in the past, he is a veteren and deserves to play...blah blah blah"

Well if you are Jim Hendry you sit him down and start talking about a contract extension

You can't send him to Iowa. He's not eligible. You can certainly waive him, for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release. I think that would be okay. I would play Hoffpauir (at AAA now) at first, as well as Nady against Lefties. If Hoffpauir is going to be the guy next year, (might well not be) they might as well get him up here now. He's not going to do any worse. By the way....to all those who poo-poo'd my thoughts of trading D. Lee this past winter, when he was coming off a good year and had value-I hope you're happy. They could have probably gotten Lee to okay a deal then, as they could have traded him to a contending team in a city he liked. But at the deadline, there were few teams interested (due to his bad season, in part) and of those, none in contention (the Angels are not truely in contention) in a city he cared to go to. Just cut his ass.
