Extra inning: The Cubs fired director of sales and promotions Matt Wszolek, a 10-year employee who had replaced Jay Blunk as head of the marketing department in 2008 after Blunk and former Cubs president John McDonough left to run the Blackhawks. Wszolek's role in the department was reduced last fall when the Ricketts family took control and named Wally Hayward as executive vice-president, chief sales and marketing officer. Hayward said it was part of an "organizational restructuring" that included three other dismissals, but declined to elaborate.
