Cool, ticket prices are going up and the team won't get better.

As a Cubs fan, I say fuck the Cubs & this request. I hope the state tells Ricketts to fuck off.

If this was the Sox, bigfan would have already started 12 threads.

Yea I gotta say my Ricketts buzz has worn off.

Demolish the place and start over. Maybe they could have the geniuses that helped with Soldier Field pitch in.

Jesus H. Christ.....why did my dad have to be a Cubs fan?

We all know that wont happen...but IF the threat were there for them to do so...I think the estimated $600 million (ricketts estimate mind you) hit the local economy would take might get the attention of ISFA and politicians & community leaders.

This almost appears to be a "you got yours" (white sox) and "we want ours" (cubs) to the ISFA.

Just build a new stadium and be done with it.

That's the point - what will Ricketts threaten the state with? Where is their Planet Park?

Wow that takes balls in this economy. These guys are showing their ineptitude more and more.
I will say it again, too bad they did not let Cuban buy the team.

He wants the money from the Stadium Authority....But he OWNS Wrigley Field....The State owns The Cell and the Park District owns Soldier Field.....Public entities own the latter 2.
I'm on the fence...the Cubs fill up hotel rooms, restaurants and bars.
I'm off the fence...give Ricketts the money.

The Sox have been doing this for years now and the requests continue for money every single year.

$200M for renovations? How much did it cost to renovate Soldier Field? Wouldn't it be more cost effective to just build a new stadium and generate new revenue streams through advertising, skyboxes and parking?

If there are any Ricketts supporters left, they jumped off the bandwagon if they heard the Ricketts interview on M&H this morning. Rickedtts is quickly on his way to being the most hated Cubs owner in history. It takes a lot of fucking balls to ask the city & state for $200 million when both are broke. Fuck you Ricketts. Spend your own money like Jerry Jones did.

He spent it all to buy the Cubs, like McCourt did with the Dodgers. Reinsdorf-approved ownership.

Keep tax dollars out of Wrigley Field.

Exactly.
Apparently Ricketts is so fucking stupid that he never even spoke with any city or state officials about his $200 million request. I heard Pat Quinn interviewed today & he took a shot at Ricketts saying that the first time he heard about this request was when it was released to the press.
Ricketts is making a lot more enemys that friends. You'd think he would know how do get things done in Chicago & Illinois.

SCOREHEAD.......Ricketts' TIMING here is what is absolutely nuts......There is a Mayor's race in February and he has CREATED AN ISSUE!!!!
Does he have Emperor Mike Madigan on board to push this through the Legislature in a veto session where Quinn wants to raise taxes....???
The timing does not make sense....if he had Chicago savvy, he waits until May or June....UNLESS THIS IS ALREADY WIRED.
