This Chapman thing has gotten ridiculous. I've probably listened to 4 or 5 interviews with Ricketts/Theo/Jed, and I'm not sure that even 10% was spent discussing baseball. All that is being talked about is his domestic incident. Words like "moral dilemma" and "bad fit" are being thrown around liberally.

Is it just me, or is this a new phenomenon? At what point did a guy have to have a 100% clean background to play sports? What Chapman did was "wrong", I guess... but we really have no idea what happened, he had no criminal charges levied, and he served a 30-game suspension. Who cares at this point? Not only do I not think it affects baseball; I don't think there is any moral conflict... the guy made a mistake and he served his "time" for it. Can we start talking about his 105 MPH heater?

Theo has said a lot of things about the character and how good the guys are in the clubhouse though.

This is what happens when you brag about things like that. When you get a bad guy like this it becomes a bigger deal.

It's not just you.

It's a symptom of the larger issue with you millenials. It takes a special kind of ego to make everything about you and how you feel about it and then expecting businesses to cater to your feelings.

Damn kids.

MANY off field incidents.

Great question.

Total agreement. I would assume the police would error on the side of the woman on that call. Police said no signs of abuse to her. From what I could see in the photos nothing happened(except a nice boobjob). Conflicting stories from everyone at the party. He admitted to losing it and shot up his garage with his legally registered gun.

Chapman is a pretty large dude, if he laid hands on her, its going to show up in a photo 2 hours later.

Here it comes. In a Cubs uniform for one day and all of a sudden he isn't a bad guy.

The guy was suspended this year by mlb and he personally apologized for some of his actions. It's ok to think he isn't a good guy.

Unbelievable. This has nothing to do with the Cubs. I can't believe how quick you are to label someone a bad guy for the actions of a single night. Have you ever made a mistake in your life? Should you not be employed for the rest of your life because of it?

You have permission to re-post any previous post of mine, from any time, where I called him a bad guy.

Everyone does bad things / make mistakes. It doesn't make them a bad guy.

FavreFan does the reefer. I speed. Bigfan tries to fuck over people he has known for 10 years.

Only one of those people is a bad guy.

This is a fucking joke right?

Did they check for emotional or psychological signs of abuse? Because he only fired the gun in the garage!! Nothing intimidating about that.

Cub fans who destroy others for their mistakes now want to pretend that it's different when the chance to win the World Series is on the line.

Good Lord, you sound ridiculous bringing up the Cubs fan thing. This has nothing to do with allegiance to one's team. Don't be an idiot.

Slow it down. I said nothing about him not being employed.

But no, I've never had a domestic violence incident and then got a gun and fired it 8 times into a wall while my significant other was hiding in the bushes calling police as I was doing it. If I did though I wouldn't be shocked if people thought I was a bad guy though.

I also cheered on Brandon Marshall when he wrapped his hands around a football. Bad guys get paid lots of money to play sports.

I also never said anything about not cheering for them.

I'm glad you called him a bad guy.

Everyone has a right to either dislike a player or not dislike a player especially when they have an incident like this.

 Read my OP. The reason I created the thread was because of interviews about Chapman that talk about nothing but his past and the morality of signing him. You'll have to excuse me for not following the Yankees on a daily basis.

They talked to her, interviewed her and said there was nothing to hold him on. What do you want from him. I haven't heard a story that said he threatened to kill her before or after shooting the gun. I don't post much, but where have I destroyed anyone for someone elses mistakes. This didn't happen in Cuba, a real cop was on sight seeing what happened and he wasn't charged.

Are you saying that someone who may have psychologically abused someone does not deserve to earn a living?

Its new and you can thank social media and the SJW's for it.

Chapman served his suspension and that should be that. But as I said yesterday and Rick said earlier in this thread, Theo and Jed can no longer talk about the great character guys they have on their team and in their organization. They have Chapman as closer and a known juicer as a hitting coach.

So these are the marks left behind when a 6'4 240 pound pitcher chokes and attacks a 5'5 120 pound woman.

In fact, here's what she told police:
"He came to the bathroom and took his phone from me and then I went and I follow him to the bar to confront her about it, but there were friends there so we went to the movie theater to talk about it. But, he was like - he was drinking, you know?"
"So he was mad. So, he was really like - aggravated and I got really - I got real scared. He pushed me against the wall. My brother came in. He broke us down. We were arguing and fighting together, whatever, And that's when I left and started running and I was really - I was scared for me and my daughter."

...and then he put 7 bullets into a wall in the garage and another outside while she hid in the bushes calling police.

That's fine. It was always lip service anyway. If Theo could deliver a Cubs World Series with a roster full of criminals, he'd do it in a heartbeat. I do believe there's merit to his theory that it is an asset to a player (and therefore team) to have guys who are talented AND "little angels", but let's be real... that's not always possible.

Exact same thing Rick is arguing: that you can agree with your OP while still not minimizing the fact that Chapman is probably an asshole.
