Ticket prices are ridiculous. I got tickets for April 7th in Milwaukee and all 3 games (April 15-17) in Miami already, but paying top dollar to go freeze my ass in a ballpark with no retractable roof if it's ridiculously cold? No thanks.

Is this a suggestion that Ricketts put a retractable roof on Wrigley Field?

I gave up on April games at Wrigley. I just get too damn cold.

Despite loving Wrigley, I’d take Miller Park in a heart beat.

After freezing my ass off in 40 degree temps and 20 mph winds from LF back in the early 90s at the first game of a Memorial Day DH with a friend in from out of town, I won't go to a game at Wrigley before June 1.

I'll be at the April 7 and 8 games at Miller, and then I may go to the first or last game of the 4-game series in LA in June since I'm supposed to be out there for work at some point that month. That's pretty much it for major league games this year, I'm going to take advantage of being in NC all summer and go to a lot of minor league games - Durham is 25 minutes away and there are three Carolina League and two Appalachian League teams that are 45-80 minutes away. I've been to four of those six ballparks at some point in the last six or seven summers, plus a couple of more on the way to western Virginia.

Did opening day once. Never again. Did mid may and if you were in sun it was great but needed a blanket in shade. I’ll find my way to one of the parks this summer. Took last year off for some reason.

At one time I thought there was an informal competition that Elmhurst Steve was having with himself to see what he could post the most:

1. Heyward should opt out of his Cubs deal to take less money with another team

vs

2. The Cubs should add a retractable roof to Weigley Field.

It "helps" that no desirable woman is stupid enough to settle down with me. Graduate school, niche field with a national practice where I control my schedule 80% of the time, lots of airilne and hotel miles from doing this for almost 25 years so I can minimize costs.

It’s hard to believe you’re over 2,000 posts on this board already. Luckily, none of your posts are especially memorable to me. Chet gives you an honest answer, and then you respond with such a troll-like thought.

That's ok, it's more fun to answer trolls with serious answers.

Plus I at least get more pussy than HawaiiYou.

its not a troll-like thought. He mentioned not being able to settle down with one woman. So I thought maybe he gets a lot of pussy on the fly. Like, fucks a chick and then on to the next city. Or has a chick in some of the cities. Perfectly valid question. I like Chet more than you. I wouldnt troll him. He's proven he can handle a laugh.

Forging ahead, Dodger Stadium is kind of a pit at times. Last time I was there, we made the mistake to sit in what we thought was a club-like level. It was a good view, but absolutely no amenities. Dodger Stadium is one of the few places where I actually prefer to sit in the outfield, as the sightlines in the lower bowl down the baselines are a little like old Comiskey, they're not really looking at the pitcher's mound or home plate, but more at the center fielder.

So this thread made me look at what it would take to go to a Thursday night game. If I picked up a good ticket on Stubhub (between the bases, 25 or so rows back), the ticket would cost me $93, an uber each way would cost me another $50, and a limited amount of F&B would cost me another $30. On a day where I will have flown in on a non-stop from Raleigh that morning, in order to watch the Cubs get 5 hits in the dead evening area of Southern California.

I'm definitely reconsidering this one.

OTOH, I didn't go to the Sunday night game where Arrietta threw the no-hitter, I was up in Thousand Oaks that night and had been to a game the year before and skipped it. Oops.

We saw two decent games. The Cubs scored like six or seven in one inning of one of the games. I believe they split the two I saw. Dodgers fans got kicked out after being trolled the whole game by a couple of dumb Cubs fans.

We stayed in North Hollywood, which is apparently up and coming. But downtown LA is a lot better now with those roof top pool bars and an improved restaurant scene.

But it’s LA. Too much traffic. Crazy chicks. And the worst of the major CA large cities.

Too late now. I suggested that years ago, before the ballpark reconstruction began. It would have made for a far better environment for players and fans in April, May September and October ( playoff games especially) and would have eliminated the issue of rainouts that lead the Cubs having to play on 41 straight dates down the stretch.

Wouldn't it have been cheaper to build an entirely new stadium than try to put a roof on top of Wrigley?

What I suggested was they take Rosemont up on their offer for FREE LAND to build their ballpark there. Sell the land in Wrigleyville and make a bunch of money on that, avoid the entertainment taxes Chicago slaps on every ticket, avoid the landmark issues that demand certain aspects of the ballpark remain the same and build whatever you want there. Put a retractable roof on the park, you have players and fans more comfortable in April, May, September and October and avoid rainouts.
