I think the Cubs win today with a great game from Dempster. Braves are masters of falling behind and trying to win it in the 9th. I think they are out of luck with Marmol.

Derek Lee revenge game.

Braves win 10-1 today and sweep the series.

Now when Derek Lee hits a ground ball to SS for a double play to kill a rally, it will be a good thing!!

I'm okay with that, as long as the hits come with nobody on and he doesn't score afterwards. Hopefully the 2 outs come with a runner on first (maybe bags loaded) and he hits into double plays to kill the inning. That would be fine. 8)

Why would Xavier Nady be given a start at any point throughout the rest of this year? That is completely illogical.

Talk about piss-poor signings. Wasn't it 2 years at 3 or 4 mil for this loser?

yes Phil, you are correct...just found it:

The Chicago Cubs have agreed to a one-year deal with free agent outfielder Xavier Nady.

The base salary of the deal is $3.3 million, with bonuses that could make it worth as much as $5.35 million

STILL 3.3 for this??

I don't mind this signing. Most of my problems with Hendry comes from the immense amount of years he feels like giving aging players. They rolled the dice with Nady and it didn't work out but at least he is gone. You should be more upset they are going to have to pay to rehab Grabow this offseason.

I was pretty happy with the Nady signing. He had put up good numbers and there was a decent chance they were going get some good production with him coming off the bench. I think the lack of regular AB's early in the season pretty much ruined the year for him though.

Oh yeah, he's the fucking guy who has the best stuff in MLB, but routinely finds a way to shit the bed.

Jeez, this Mike Minor has some serious stuff. The Braves (and Vanderbilt!) keep churning them out.

Wind blowing in, and Wells has given up 3 homers.

This is just bad. I don't blame Lou for just going ahead and getting in a cab now. Yikes.

He actually did that sometime in October of 2008. Since then he's not really been there.

Nice, great way to send Lou off and he used almost the entire bullpen in one inning yet is leaving freaking Berg in there to let them run up the score. Lou with his performance today just gave Cub fans a nice big middle finger.

We're really going to blame today's loss on the manager? Damn Lou forgetting to tell Wells the wind is blowing in and giving up 3 homers would be embarrassing today.

To be honest, I find the whole baseball manager thing kind of silly. Wearing an actual uniform? Apparently responsible for how a guy hits at the plate in a one-on-one contest with the pitcher? How much does Lou Piniella deserve blame for D Lee batting .250 or Dusty deserve credit for D Lee batting .335? Little to none. The fact we hold baseball managers responsible for much in these games is laughable. Football, College Basketball, Hockey, and Soccer head coaches/managers have far more responsibilities than these guys. Baseball managers don't deserve much credit and don't deserve much blame for what takes place in a game other than some of the chess matches that take place after the 5th inning in the National League.

I'm surprised Lou hasn't downed a couple cocktails on the bench by now. Its the only way this game can be stomached

I blame him for who he started in RF and at First today.
