Arm does need to improve. He has made all the throws, but sure seems to need to get everything behind it...

We're just stupid Cub fans, Ramirez is a better shortstop, the Cubs would have won 95 games if Ventura were managing them.

No, you're right. They would be twenty under .500 with some guy who doesn't have a pet flamingo or a magician on speed dial filling out the lineup card. Fucking dumbass.

Maddon is really a sharp guy once the game starts,he also is a fun loving guy once the game is over.
I have very few complaints (except P batting 8th),he is fine.

Come on JORR, you've got to admit Maddon isn't just a gimmick. The guy knows his stuff and players seem to love playing for him. What more does one want from their skipper?

White Sox fans can really be a miserable bunch of pricks. Just fuck off with your shitty team and let Cubs fans fuck off with theirs. It's easy for Cubs fans to be assholes right now because they did the 4-year intentional tank job and the Sox are the midst of a ?-year unintentional tank job, plus the Sox are a niche team with massive attendance issues that for some reason chose to retain their dolt of a manager, plus...blah blah blah, same old shit.

None of this matters. It is the biggest circlejerk going in Chicago sports, 2nd only to Cutlerian debate.

Not a criticism of Maddon. Players win and lose games. This is a good team. It would be just as good with Ventura writing the names on the lineup card.

Then there is literally no god reason for a manager to ever get fired.

Bevington should be a very rich fella right now.

That's backwards. If a guy is "good" there's no reason for him to ever be fired. But at some point Maddon almost certainly will be. And he'll be the same guy he is right now. Incidentally, Terry Bevington has a winning record.

Anyway, you should be more concerned about whether the Cubs are better at any position than the Cardinals. I'll give them first base and center.

Come on Bernstein, you want numbers to prove the point?

The Cubs will struggle along with Maddon for the next 5-10 years and we all know Mark Parent could have done the same job.

All these owners are foolish, except Jerry, he didnt believe any of that hype that the manager really mattered, so he found the guy with the least experience of anyone that would take the job.

I would argue a head coach /manager of any team in any sport is the leader of the team. if you don't believe in the value of having a great leader, thats your opinion and I question your understanding of team sports in general.

Managers matter more on the mental side of things than on the talent side. Just look at the Nationals. Lack of leadership ruined that team this year.

The Cubs will have a bad year with Maddon in the next five. At that point will he be a bad leader? Was he a bad leader when he managed a horseshit team in Tampa?

That's not "almost every position". The Cubs are clearly better at minimally a third of the positions. And the places the Sox are better, the difference is marginal. The Cub rotation is having a better season. I don't think most people would swap the Sox rotation for it going forward.though. Probably not even most Cub fans.
