This is when Stone was good. After the cubs fired him or he quit, when he did watch all the games and talked to many other people, then the opinion meant something.

He still had his anger towards the Cubs and took shot after shot but at least the content of his time on air was more than a culmination of a week of ESPN shows and White Sox excuses.

How's Donnie Veal?

You don't want him on your team though.

But...you need to have preconceived ideas of who the leagues top players are and that it can never change!!!

This Rizzo guy is pretty okay.

We may have just won that trade with the Padres.

Never dreamed he would be anything close to this. I think maybe a lot more hitters will be crowding the plate if it gives these kind of results. Of course,Rizzo is a real talent who actually chokes up on the bat with 2 strikes. When he comes up to bat,it's time to pay attention to the game. He is a real pleasure to watch.

That was a good trade for both teams. Cashner has been real good for them and that's okay. We don't need to be a clear "winner" in trades. The best deals help both teams and help establish a great working relationship between organizations. But Rizzo has turned into a beast this year !

You're not wrong.

But even so, the Cubs won the trade. And I like Cashner.

Me too. I thought the Votto comparisons were far over reaching but he's getting pretty close. Fucker battles his ass off at the plate. Of course id love to see this keep up for a full season before making any grand pronouncements but he sure seems well on his way.

Last year didnt convince you?

Clear win for Cubs. Its not even close. Cashner might be a good pitcher some day but he has yet to even have one real good year as a starter. Cant stay healthy long enough and seems to have a knack for losing.

Also, the WAR is 12.6 to 1.1 if you go for that sort of thing

That he might be as good as Votto ? No, why would it? He's had one good year and a quarter of an MVP year. He's a .260 career hitter, Votto is career plus .300. If Rizzo puts together 3 or 4 more years comparable to what he's doing now I'll buy in to it. Votto has been good to great his whole career when healthy.

Votto was an MVP at age 26, thats about as good as it gets.

I have no problem holding him up as the bar of achievement,

On a side note, this Russell guy is pretty okay too!

We may have also won that trade with the A's.

They won deal with A's the day the trade was made.

Even I recognized it. Beane was desperate not to be known as the guy whose had a movie about him for winning nothing. He took his shot and crapped out like Mike Mc Dermott in Rounders.

Not that he's had the career Votto has, but you said keep it up for a year as if he didnt do that last year. He was better than just "good" last year. He was 3rd in the league in OPS.

Right now, Rizzo is better than Votto. Votto is 31 and had some injuries, but they are very comparable players.

he stays on this path he will exceed Votto. Need to stay injury free and stay in shape.

You referring to Votto?

I consider Votto a line-drive hittter who happens to hit some out of the yard... That being said, It seems young Rizzo has fixed his platoon issues

Rizzo. Definitely 'just a guy' in the league, as many on this board have said numerous times.

I don't believe this is a "right now" scenario. He had one weakness, and not only has he adjusted for it but he has the highest BA against LHP (with at least 30 AB) in the National League. Second highest in all of baseball (to Nelson Cruz)

Anthony Rizzo hits LHP, RHP, inside, outside, up, down, fastballs, breaking balls, etc.
