Harper sucked this year.

Not after the All-Star game he didn't.

This morning on Inside the Clubhouse, Bruce Levine said that in a quarter of the games this season, the Cubs scored only one run or less.

You're not going to win many games that way.

I would be surprised if Chili Davis returns next season.

And yes, I realize that there were some big names who underperformed, however, Epstein was clearly unhappy about the lack of offense. Somebody has to be held accountable.

In addition to his big free agent pitcher signing failures this year, you can add hiring Chili to Theo's list also. He didnt have a very good off season last year.

Wasn't that a Maddon selection?

Epstein was happy with the hitting coach and Bosio.. Joe wasn't

That is sorta what I remember the talk was last year. The new hitting and pitching coach were Joe's guys, but Theo would have something to hang Joe with if his new guys didn't work out

All of it felt like Maddon flexing muscle and removing threats.

Chili Davis fired.

Too bad we burned the bridge with Mallee.

The Cubs wanted more of one thing, got it, but sacrificed the power that Mallee taught.

You cant have everything.

Fuck Chili Davis. Hated the hire from day 1.

It wasn't too long ago that they paid Rudy Jamarillo top dollar to be the awesomest hitting coach who would change everything

They never learned his "play half their games in Arlington" technique

More egg on the face of Maddon and the Front office. You played this card once already. It looks bad.

Iapoce was a Cubs minor league player development coach for several years, a couple years ago.

Now 3 hitting coaches in 3 years. I would find it hard to believe a credible major league hitter would restructure his swing 3 times for a new hitting coach two of which are no name guys. Tweeks I could see, discipline reinforcement help ok. That's why I wish the score had a solid MLB guy(no not speigs) for insight. ESPN 1000 has Derosa, but I don't think he's a regular.

I wonder who Chili was lamenting as the millennial?

Seems like it would be Bryant and his helicopter dad but Bryant was out a good portion of the season.

pretty much going back to Mallee without going back to Mallee. Theo knows he made a mistake firing him.

Why do they not just stop the indignities and fire Joe?

The Red Sox have a history of not just firing members of the organization but slinging mud at them on the way out. Did this method of operation start/occur while Theo was there or was it present prior to his arrival?

Maybe they were hoping that by firing his pitching and hitting coaches and refusing to discuss an extension, he would ask permission to look for another gig and after finding one, they could mutually agree to void the final year of his deal and save 3 million? I am surprised he has seems okay about coming back as a lame duck manager.

I think they are setting Joe up to be the scapegoat should they have a losing streak.

Say you have a job contract that was fully guaranteed for $100,000. Halfway thru the job, the customer came to you and said, "Look I don't like the way you are doing things, so here is $20,000 to take a hike," would you do that, or would you simply keep performing the work that you contracted and continue to collect your $100K?
