He'd be doing her a favor.

Lost on Scooter's fermented brain is the irony of an oxygen cord depriving somebody of the oxygen that they need to breathe.

Did anyone see in the replay that the wild pitch ball actually deflected off Heyward as he was walking from the on-deck circle? Technically, I think that should have been interference? I thought at first when I saw it that it wouldn't matter because the player was going to score, but I don't think you can make that assumption. What if the runner trips prior to reaching home? The catcher would have then had a play at the plate.

Doesn't it come down to the umpire's discretion as to where to place the runners if there's interference?

1. Heyward was in the on-deck circle. Where he legally allowed to be.
2. He did not make movements to intentionally make contact with the ball.

Therefore, it does not classify as intentional interference. Similarly, had the ball ricocheted off the brick and then hit the batter in the batter's box, it would not be interference. Unless the batter stuck his foot out to make contact with it.

I guess that makes sense, though he did leave the on-deck circle and start walking towards the plate. It might be umpire's discretion, but I didn't think that applied with interference like that. Just was curious.

I'm reminded of Baez getting shoved out of the way by the home plate ump in a recent game.
