Very encouraging in his at bats against lefties. Seems to have figured out how to use the whole field and slap with two strikes

I hope he can keep it going. Looks like he made an adjustment to the pitchers and now they will start making an adjustment to his adjustment.... and yeah. Baseball is a simple game :?

Yeah. One set of numbers is clearly superior to the other set of numbers, so far. Obviously it's too early to draw any real conclusions yet on who is actually better.

I'm skeptical that Rizzo's recent success is nothing but an anomaly. I hope I'm wrong. Same goes for Castro. Maybe Mueller/Renteria will let them both be what they are. That approach will certainly benefit Castro. I think he was fucked up by mgmt trying to make him into what they wish he where, instead of what he naturally is.

Might agree with you if he was getting shit bloop hits, but he isnt' He has hammered the ball. Saturday, he crushed it all 4 times and got no H to show for it. One was an error, which was because of how hard he hit the ball.

I havent seen enough of Abreu yet. For whatever reason, I just never seem to tune in for his at bats.

From all the hype, I assume the swings really hard and fluid, but still want to see it.

Rizzo has actually surprised me a little. His swing has been really fluid and more than anything, he has shortened up on 2 K's v Strikeouts.

The point of this whole thing was that would be similar players when it is all over, not one being FAR SUPERIOR than the other.

Castro first pitch swinging %

2010 31.2
2011 26.7
2012 31.4
2013 21.1
2014 28.8

Seems simple enough

Abreu is a hacker. Thinks he can get anything. Also very rough start in the field. Far superior? No.

I do think the early evaluations have been over the top. I'm still not sure what they have in Abreau

We'll see what happens when the league's pitchers adjust to him. See if he can overcome the scouting reports.

I assume Abreu will adjust and be better than right now, but I think these 2 will be amazingly similar, with is a far cry from one being FAR SUPERIOR to the Other.

Maybe Donnie Veal knows which is better?

Ya know, the cubs drafted him.

That's what I'm asking...

Regarding Rizzo, we all knew he has been good this year against LHP, but how good?

.387/.474/.613 1.087

12 H, 2 HR, 7 RBI, in 38 PA.

BAbip is .455 so that will come down, but if Rizzo keeps the same approach for the season / his career, things are looking good.

I think he is still trying to do too much with all pitches in the strike zone.

Even with the .230 RHP BA, he has a .750 OPS because of his 12 BB leading to a .373 OBP against RHP.

I'm happy with the adjustments he has made over last year. I'm always a fan of a guy that has proven he can make the changes needed to be successful.

He is our Votto.

If he keeps getting on base at a .373 clip against them, that's not an issue.

BTW, Cashner is being exposed when he pitches outside the cavernous Petco Park (0-3, 5.00 ERA)
