Baez has been awful but he's been a slow starter at the start of each season and each level jump.
He seems to flip a switch a couple months in and then goes nuts.
I assume the same will happen at AAA and then MLB.

I understand the dips. I think Bryant might be one of those rare guys that could have started at the MLB level and been decent

Baez had 3 hits as well, albeit all singles. Still...success.

Josh Vitters is going to hit .400 if he keeps this recent pace up.

He is hitting .221 right now. He has a long way to .400.

Soler back in the lineup for TN today.

Over/Under 5 games until he is injured again.

Him being a collective figment of our hivemind is still more believable than Jose Abreu already proving to be far superior to Anthony Rizzo.

The trouble with or the beauty of baseball is that anything can happen. Both good and bad. For instance, Bryant might come up and be a hall of famer and all will rejoice. Or he could fuck up a knee or back or have eye problems like Olt and he never materializes.

So I have always been a bird in the hand guy.

Rizzo and Bryant are far superior to any two White Sox hitters.

Congratulations to him! I think RPB's daughter and bigfan's nephew each hit a pair out tonight too.

I want to know why the Cubs 2nd baseman at Iowa is batting .333 with 3 HR's but the ML team can't use him?

It's a sick conspiracy that goes all the way to the top. Epstein DEMANDS losing!

He has a .644 OPS in the majors. Fairly good reason.

I'll take a "Punch & Judy" hitter over "Just Judy" (Barney) any day!

1 career HR in 137 ML PA.

I'm no Barney fan, but if you're calling for someone from Iowa...why not Alcantara?

You know...the young player with actual talent?

Yes,I'm aware of him but I know Theo wants to hold back the "big guns" so he can own them a season longer by not bringing them up.

So you're okay with Theo doing some things but not others?

How about trying to play some of these guys hoping they can somehow be used in trade packages over the summer? Valaika will never be that guy...Barney and Schierholtz have very small outside chances.

I think Theo has made a lot of great moves with finding "scrap heap" SP. I was hoping he would apply the same to finding a few hitters the same way. He totally ignored the Cubs lineup going in to this season and it shows.

Your new lease on life should allow Theo and Jed at least a year or two more to field a truly competitive team...not a 78 win per season organization.

Calm down...and let him do what he is paid to do....what he has been previously successful at.

This writer is clearly trolling JimmyPasta

KODAK, Tennessee -- The Barons couldn't stop top Cubs prospect Kris Bryant and couldn't figure out Dae-Eun Rhee as Birmingham dropped its fourth game in a row by a score of 12-1 against the Tennessee Smokies Wednesday night outside Knoxville.

Bryant, playing third base, homered twice and nearly hit a third one out of the park, driving in six runs for the Smokies (19-14). Bryant was 3-for-4 on the night with a walk, bringing his average up to .313. He leads the Southern League with eight homers.

Catcher Kevan Smith got the only run for the Barons (12-20) on a solo blast in the second inning.

Rhee (2-1) got the win, giving up only the one run in seven innings for the Smokies. Myles Jaye (0-4) gave up six runs, five earned, on five hits in five innings for the loss.

Tennessee added six runs in the seventh and eighth against Barons relievers Jarrett Casey and Ryan Kussmaul.

White Sox infielder Jeff Keppinger, who's on a rehab assignment in Birmingham, played third base and finished 0-for-4.

Bryant with another HR. He should be moved to AAA in about a month. I would imagine that Villanueva will be moved back down to AA.

Soler 2 for 2 with a 2B and two walks. No injuries.

this kid bryant is wasting his time at AA - he needs to get promoted soon. the cubs should get him smashing the ball around in iowa for a little while so he is ready to contribute to the big club this summer. bryant has crushed at every level in pro ball, he is no fluke with the bat. 3rd base, left field, i dont give a shit, he is a better hitter than half the guys on the current big league roster, probably more than that. another big night tonight, what more can he possibly prove at that level?

What does his thoughts on Bryant have to do with Baez?

I'm just asking. If a minor leaguer is doing good and that means he is too good for the level, doesn't the opposite also hold true? Or is this thread only to discuss prospects that are doing well?
