Yeah let's get on the umps now. 3 HRs and 2 doubles given up and it's the umps. Oh yeah, walking the pitcher too.

Ouch.

Well if they were cocky and needed to get humbled a bit, that has certainly happened.

It's ok they have yet another series with the Reds coming up next. They seem to really get up for those games.

51-30 is competitive.

The memory of the NLCS obviously loomed large. The Cubs play scared against teams they know can fight back.

Cubs go back to their Reds/Pirates safe space next two series (plus a swing at the Atlanta free win piñata), so they'll be doing highly bloggable HISTORIC BASEBALL THINGS again in no time. I dont know if anything is going to stop that Arrieta ship from sinking, but at least Bryant and Rizzo will be able to bumslay some confidence back into Cubbieland.

If Arrieta is indeed sinking that is really unfortunate. The financial timing for him couldn't be worse.

2005! How quickly you forget a similar slump from that team after Pods was out for awhile. Not having Fowler at the top of the order has hurt this team. I rather they slump in the middle of the season then at the beginning or end.

Did you really think they where going to finish with 110 wins?

Well this is the fastest I've ever turned a game on and turned it off.

Yea not having Dexter Fowler at the top of the lineup is why the Best Starting Staff in 50 Years has given up like 30 ER in their last 3 starts. Right.

Glad you are enjoying this as opposed to the WIN NOW 11.0... BTW how is that working out for you?

I doubt if this is the beginning of the end for him so to speak and unless he totally reverts to Baltimore Jake next couple years he's still going to get 150 million somewhere. I wouldn't feel too bad for him.

They have had several close games (Lester's last game) where the offense didn't score runs. The 13 inning game burnt out an already thin bullpen which has cost them some leads. When one phase of your teams struggles, the others need to pick them up. Right now that is not happening. #RELAX it's a long season.

The Cubs are just too exhausted from the herculean struggle against Cincinnati to play well against other teams. Right.
