Naysayers shouldn't come in here puffing out their bird chests when he falls victim to an insane offense like the Diamondbacks. He's not Clayton Kershaw, we get it.

Today he was better than Sad Greinke and that's all that matters.

If there's anything this game proves, it's that wins and losses are a coin flip in modern baseball.

Q was just unlucky today.

Oops! Quintana apparently just surrendered the lead again.

Greinke won't get a win either.

You're suddenly understanding how a bullpen effects a pitchers outcome to a game? Strange.

The experience of him out pitching SadFace Greinke was good today. The experience of our import pitcher from the Tigers was not good. NL is a much tougher league. Theo was sold a bad bill of goods on those Tiger players.

Didn't see today's game but he's now had 2 good and 2 bad starts. I wonder if he is a pitcher than can win at Wrigley when the wind blows out. The win he got at Wrigley vs the cards he left a lot of balls up but the wind wasnt blowing out so he survived.

Think he's had 3 quality starts in his 4 outings. Pretty solid in my world.

i know it's only 4 games but he tends to leave the ball up too much.

I think it proves who Quintana is. He is who we thought he was.

The game itself, perhaps. He hasn't looked good overall... do you think his 2-1 record is indicative of his performance? I think it makes him look better than he is.

We were told Bosio can just do magic after Q's first Cub start.

I think his 52-55 record in 175 starts is quite indicative of who he is. And I think if you accept that he's going to cover 200+ innings for you each season and you'll be .500 in those games (maybe a little better if the Cub juggernaut can somehow find it in themselves to hit better than the Brewers), you won't be disappointed. If you're expecting him to be a shutdown starter, you're going to end up hating him. He's certainly not as good as Kyle Hendricks.

This is entirely true. Q is a good pitcher. That means he's a a legit #3. As a Sox fan I always liked him, but he never showed the ability to be in the 1,2 realm and no one has any idea if he has the stones to step up come playoff time.

Some of you White Sox fans need to name #2's in the AL from 2012-2016, and then look up how they performed.

Why is Chris Archer an ace at about 10 games under .500 for his career? And if he isn't an ace, no baseball guy would say he is anything less than a #2.

Poor, unlucky Q. No 1st inning run support.

I'm loving this. Cubs gave up future GOAT Eloy for a shitty pitcher who won't even help them a little.

Looking at Twitter reaction is funny . Seems Quintana has no shortage of guys twisting themselves into knots insisting he's a good pitcher .

Where's Beardown at? He has him as the 7th best pitcher in MLB

I'm sure there's a metric showing him 7th best pitcher as long as you don't expect
him to win games .

I figured out how this fucker works now. He's all smoke and mirrors. All his numbers are worthless.

1st inning - gives up 3 to 6 runs.

2nd - 9th inning : gives up nothing.

But that 1st inning basically kills your chance of winning.

Wrong. He's been bad this year but before this season he had given up 3 or fewer runs in 90% of his starts and 2 or fewer runs in 2/3 of his starts.

I don't care about his previous years. I'm just talking this year what I've seen him do as a Cub.

Who could argue with that data?
