and most of them have been off lefties.

They better not pitch to him anymore. Just walk him the rest of this game and tomorrow.

The walk to Carpenter wasn’t intentional. He couldn’t find the plate on 4 straight pitches. Hyde’s gotta pull him right there.

Hyde’s been a step behind pulling Strop, Wilson, and Cishek.

Oh well, let's come back tomorrow and beat these chumps. And they can unload Wilson sooner rather than later. The guy can't handle pressure at all.

You gotta love how on the post game Zach Zaidman had to point out why there's both a W flag and a L flag flying on the scoreboard tonight. People might have gotten confused otherwise.

Yesterday during the cardinals' big 7 run inning they came back from commercial and Zach talked about the largest comeback in Cubs' history alongside a mention of the Cubs' 31 comeback victories this season. Not to be outdone, coming out of commercial after the inning finished Zach spoke of the largest comeback in MLB history... He literally doubled down on the laughable homerism!

You gotta figure that the Cubs wanted a good soldier / "team player" to spread his unique brand of sunshine on their happy go-lucky broadcasts. This would be evident every time Pat cracks a lame joke and you can hear Zach in the background guffawing it up. Ed McMahon had nothing on the ginger haired genius... RED ALERT!!!

ZZ is awful. He was awful with the Bears and he is awful with the Cubs.

They should give his spot to Spiegel. He might actually be decent in that role.

I don’t get the hate for ZZ laughing at the Hughes/ Coomer jokes. There are 162 games, Pat and Coom tell hacky jokes, it’s part of the broadcast. Honestly I laugh out loud at some of the jokes, it’s part of the broadcast/entertainment. Pat and Ron don’t take themselves to seriously, neither should you.

Laughing out loud is fun, try it sometime.

Spiegel on pre/5th/post would be interesting.

No way Pat Hughs signs off on Spiegel. If he couldn't stand Grote, he won't stand Spiegel.

It's not an issue of me being a miserable joyless Caller Bob, it's more like when you get some of those groan inducing tryharding schticky jokes and you always hear one voice prominently laughing loudly in the background it's "come on dude" territory.

If you wanna get technical, the groaning on my end comes from trying to like the product but always hearing one guy guffawing in the background hearkens all of the corporate kissass caricatures that ZZ has accumulated over the years. whatever charm there is to Pat's cheesy schtick is offset by Zach audibly heehawing like "you're supposed to be laughing at this" especially when you consider the guy spent the better portion of the last 10-15yrs telling you what you're SUPPOSED TO think about the Bears.

Zach's got a pedantic vibe when he does his "company man giving you the company line" gimmick and if it was anyone else always laughing in the background I reckon it probably wouldn't have even been brought up here... But because it's Zach freaking Zaidman you're just like "come on dude... You don't have to try that hard"

I’m not a mental health professional, but my layman recommendation is that you stop listening to Chicago Cubs radio broadcasts.

No, I get what he's saying. Zaidman has cultivated a uniquely annoying personality over the years. Of course he would fake-laugh in the background like that. Forced mirth is uncomfortable to deal with.

I guess that is my point. ZZ might have this rep from his Bears coverage, and that colors some opinions of him on Cubs broadcasts, but if it was just some no name producer in the background laughing nobody would have issue with it.

If Ted Knight was laughing in the background, you would not care, why does it change if ZZ laughs.

The Cubs are good and Pat and Coom do a really good broadcast. Enjoy the entertainment.

Bad loss. Can't lose a game that you actually get a decent outing from your starter. Wilson blows, and Strop melts down against the Cards often.
