Last time the Cubs were 7-1 was 1985. That was a good team that just got destroyed by injuries to the pitching staff. I believe the top 4 were all out at the same time.

They were 35-19 and then lost 13 in a row. Brutal.

Correct. I was in high school at that time. I bet 4 different Cardinal fans 20 each that the Cubs would finish ahead of the Cards. Last time I ever bet on them.

That is a cute line, but not at all true. He had good downward movement on his sinker, but the Cub batters took a lot of those pitches rather than swinging over them and when he got behind in the count he had to throw a 4 seam fastball, that indeed did not have any movement.[/quote]

Where does the Arietta & Strop trade rank in Cub and Chicago sports history?

Cub wise, I'd still place the Bowa & Sandberg trade above it, but I do think it tops the Big Choi for D Lee deal.

I could see the Cubs going to a three headed monster of Grimm, Ramirez and Rondon if Strop is inconsistent again. Good inning tonight though.
