He and Steve went to the same school of baseball.

They had a terrible approach...they were all over swinging when "nice and easy" would have been plenty.

Maddon is great over 162, but when there's big pressure like the playoffs, he seems to not have the right approach.

Cubs still got this. Lester and Arrieta walk around like their shit doesn't stink. Time for them to prove it.

Cubs should win tonight...then Arrieta loses game six. Although Hendricks pitching a gem in Game 7 sure would be fun.

Honesty would be great. Admit that the moment HAS been to big for the young guys. At least he did say Bryant should of never threw the ball one the Kluber infield single.

You could have traded Schwarber for a world

I know you're not trolling, so my response is not aimed at you as a Cubs hater... but it's wrong. You are basically saying that the Cubs should have predicted that Miller would go to Cleveland and then predicted that Cleveland would make the World Series. By that logic, the Dodgers would have made the World Series if they'd just traded for Miguel Montero at the deadline.

Zobrist has been the Cubs best hitter this series.

Oh, ok. Thank for the clarification. Then Schwarber definitely should've been traded for a relief pitcher.

He was definitely going to a contender. He also would have helped this year and next year.

I think the larger point is that Schwarber should have been traded for someone.

A DH on an NL team does not serve a great purpose. And Miller is a lot more than 'something'

No matter what you think about the Cubs, tonight is a must win.

Rick, you can't just change "the larger point." He specifically said the Cubs could have trades Schwarber for a WS title, which is wrong and convoluted logic.

Do you think the Cubs problem in this series has been their pitching?

The pitching was a problem in games 1 and 4.

Miller can stop the other team from hitting, as you have seen first hand.

I honestly don't even know how to respond to this. There's a quote about a forest and trees. Google it.

Yeah, the pitching. When your "ace" gives up 2 walks and hits a guy with 2 outs in the first inning, thats a problem.

When Lakcey cannot protect a 1 run lead for even 1/3 of an inning, that is a problem. And your bullpen gave up a late 3 run homer putting the game out of reach.

Do you not feel that two of the most seasoned postseason picthers in all of baseball putting their team behind the eight-ball early is a problem?

Nobody on this board will be more excited than me to cut up the Cubs corpse and figure out what killed them, but they're not dead yet.

What would Andrew Miller do about that?

He likely would have kept the score right where it was, thus giving the Cubs a chance.

I never said the Cubs offense was good this series. But to simply to say the pitching has not been a problem at all, is flat-out wrong.

Kluber put his team "behind the eight-ball". The offense then scored 2 runs the next inning.

Quote:
#Cubs have had 26 baserunners in scoring position with less than 2 outs this World Series. 1 scored (3.8%)–lowest WS pct since 1969.

^
that's called a "problem"

Yes, the fact that every baseball analyst, fan, observer, insider, and broadcaster on Earth has been trying to figure out why the Cubs offense has stalled for the last 72 hours definitely means their biggest mistake was not solidifying the bullpen.
