Remembering that Heyward was eligible to return from his IL stint on Monday, I looked for news about his return to the team. All I found was a small blurb about him being cleared for "light baseball activities and light running". But marquee has an article about how Jason Heyward contributed to Ian Happs all star game appointment.

How does this guy get so much credit for everyone's accomplishments?

Happ must not have listened to him last year when he sucked.

I think Happ was helped by Heyward last year dealing with failure. I can believe that. Heyward is the master at blocking out failure. He'd be the greatest failure coping mentor of all time with all his experience.

All quiet on the Heyward front. Nary a peep about their 22 million dollar man.

Haugh asked Coomer Friday what do the Cubs do with him when he's ready to return when they'll be going young after the trade deadline?. Coomer said "I don't know". But of course brought up he's a great guy and leader.

$184m over 7(8) years from the Cubs: WAR of 8.9

Thief. It won't happen, but the fans should boo him tomorrow.

Interesting how he shoehorned Justin Upton as a fellow victim cut while having a good spring training. Heyward failed to mention JU was still owed 28.mil by LAA then stunk and was cut by SEA with a 471 ops.

He was actually asked if he'd want to manage in MLB. Sure a guy coming out of a $184 mil + $20 mil future payouts would be dumb enough to take a pressure job like that. He of course wants to jump over that role and be an owner.

This Heyward super human being thing could never have happened without the liberal media supporting and pushing the lies after lies.

Then he's got the balls to say he plays through injuries while in hiding on the IL just to be rid of him.

He sucks but I wouldn't care enough to boo him. Maybe I'd boo the guy that signed him, but he won a WS too so whatever.

Cubs are actually honoring a guy today with a Cubs career 9 for 75 .120 ba, 1 rbi, a staggering 44 lob postseason stats.

He was on the score this morning to give Bruce Levine a chance to fellate him for a few minutes.

Bruce said Hayward will be remembered as a consummate winner. I’m no Cubs fan, but I think he’ll either:

A) not be remembered at all, or…

B) be remembered ironically for his oratory skills

He'll be remembered for the worst contract in cubs history and a useless heap of shit.

There were a fair amount of boos when he came out of the dugout.

He came out for an ovation in the middle of the 4th and now the announcers are blowing him.

So either he is a truly remarkable human being, or he's a hell of a huckster.

I do think that he could have ingratiated himself with the fans by donating part of his 2022 salary to Cubs' charities. Not a lot, but 5% of gross (1.1M) would have been a nice gesture for the team's Clemente nominee. He had the opportunity to do it on Roberto Clemente Day.

Look it was a brutal contract and he sucked . At least he caught the ball out there. Ask the White Sox what its like to have sieves in the outfield.

Yep. I walked away after the ovation as I got tired of their fake praise. And then they had Bully Hoyer in the booth to fake praise him too.

Bully Hoyer didnt do SHIT for the players he traded away, that actually won them the WS, but somehow this dumbfuck deserved an ovation.

Today all Cub fans were insulted on one of the darkest days in Cubs history honoring a complete and utter failure as the main cause for the world series victory when he had little contribution. Days honoring true Cubs greats like Ron Santo, Billy Williams, and Fergie Jenkins who weren't fakes and didn't need to be propped up by a media stench make this day laughable in comparison.

One positive is this ends the disastrous Jason Heyward era as a Cub.

Why didnt we give Alfonso Soriano his day then?

He was at least halfway productive.

The fact that this fraud brought up good baserunning as a valid contribution tells me he's either completely delusional or he's just gaslighting fans. In his Cubs career, he had a whopping 32 stolen bases and was caught 13 times...the 71% success rate means his baserunning was a net negative...he actually cost the team runs. And he didn't get on base nearly enough for his baserunning to have much of an effect anyway.

He also made the curious comment that "people say it was a bad contract, but I guess I'm one of the select few to earn a bad contract." In other words, his performance PRIOR to the contract was good enough that some sucker decided to give him $184m -- as if that should make Cubs fans feel any better? If Todd Hundley said that, he'd be rightfully crucified.

Went back to watch & listen to the Heyward tribute from Saturday on the MLB app. Really awkward and uncomfortable in both the TV and radio booths. To give a guy a 1 minute video tribute between innings is something you'd give a retiring beer vendor. JD's best line was "He always showed up even when he struggled". Boog couple times said "JD" like he wasn't happy with JD's lack of adulation. Boog commented "How great it was to hear the applause" like there was some doubt how the event would be received by the fans. Watching it it really was a bottom shelf Mickey Mouse like tribute shoehorned in for 1 minute in the middle of the game which is sort of gratifying. This mid game tiny tribute I would deem insulting if they ever do tributes like this in the future for actual players who contributed to the world series or guys like Sutcliffe from the past.

i imagine if they spent 15 minutes with a pregame ceremony, thered be posts in this thread about how it was unnecessary and wasted time on a "terrible" player.

mid game acknowledgement was appropriate and a nice moment for him and the fans.

Why would a guy completely retool his swing after 1 bad year? He just had a 797 ops in '15. From '10-'15 784 ops. Theo must of been irate about '16 631 ops and DEMANDED he retool his swing. That must be when he started intense juicing and lifting then his already defective swing totally was unfixable with the extra bulk. If he gets 200 ab this year somewhere it'll sink his contract stats even lower.
