The Cubs are not a Chicago sports franchise. Dont compare them to the Sox.

What do you mean when you say "local"? Local relative to the Cubs?

What?

My question seems to retain its validity.

Today ESPN's Kieth Law released his 2016 farm system ranks.... the Cubs even after promoting Bryant, Schawber, Russell have slipped from the number 1 spot all the way down to 4th behind only the Braves,Dodgers and Twins. The Cubs have only 6 prospects in Law's Top 100 obviously the con job continues.

His recap:

"They graduated Kris Bryant, Kyle Schwarber and Addison Russell but are still loaded with talent, albeit most of it unlikely to help before 2017. The system has long been light on arms, but there's some pitching coming if you squint hard enough into the distance."

Meanwhile other local teams:

The pedophilic looking Keith Law has been a well know Sox detractor for at least a decade. I don't know if he is in the group of unbiased minor league evaluators who also happen to have sent a resume to the Cubs in looking for a job.

Phil Rogers with M&H stated last homegrown Sock position player to accrue 3 WAR donning the pale hose was Joe Crede drafted in '96.

His dislike of the Sox system is reality instead of Keyzer/good dolpin fantasy.

and yet they regularly are able to trade them for quality MLB players

by the way, Phil Rogers is another from the Levine school of unbiased Cubbie reporting

are pitchers no longer part of a minor league system?

I think the Sox problem is more development than talent. The Sox had a top minor league ranking maybe a decade ago and it produced nothing.

Do you guys really think there is no bias in minor league evaluation?

We know fairly definitely that it exists in the business of high school football talent evaluation (specifically that a player became a great number of stars recruit when he became an ND recruit). We also know that a top evaluator was interviewing for jobs with MLB teams and just happened to give a glowing evaluation of the team for which he was ultimately hired.

of course there is bias. position players are seen as less volatile so those systems are ranked higher.

given the sox dearth of postion talent the past 20 years their rankings stinks. it's not anti-sox.

I dont know if were talking great.

Anthony Rizzo (not drafted by Cubs, but was drafted by GM in question) and Starlin Castro combined for 5 All Star appearances

But before that there was not much. Which is part of the reason many people embraced the refocus on development.

Using Baseball America as a proxy from date of Theo's hire:

11: 16th
12: 14th
13: 12th
14: 4th
15: 1st

Don't see where bias is derived from? Most people would acknowledge the Cubs minors leagues have drastically improved and provided results.

The White Sox equivalent of those guys is Andy Gonzalez who nobody ever talked about. For good fucking reason.

The Beckham hype was vomit inducing, it made me hate the guy before his second season..I enjoyed watching him suck from his 300th career atbat til now.

Cubs are bigger and get more press and way more coverage.

Just the way it is.

You're right.

The White Sox' two best position player products of their minor league system are better than two of the Cubs' worst.

Gordon Beckham dreams of having a career like Starlin Castro.

The Cubs are so gifted with young talent that Ricketts and Theo are able to provide charity for the rest of Major League Baseball.

You're welcome, Oakland / Toronto.
Think nothing of it, New York.
What would you like, Tampa Bay?
Please, don't be shy. Take something San Diego.

What's ours is yours.
