The Cubbie obsession with Gordon Beckham is bizarre. As a rookie, Beckham was better than all the Cubs rookies outside of Bryant. That is why he got hyped like he did. He then failed after that but Cubs fans act like it was some sort of crazy thought to be excited about the future of the guy who finished 5th in rookie of the year voting.

This board had multiple threads on Beckham before he took an at-bat for the White Sox. Sox fans hyped him up as much as Cubs fans ever hyped a prospect.

Maybe. I seem to remember that was mostly just because he was going to be in the minor leagues a very short amount of time though.

Not a chance.

Ceiling of Mike Trout ring a bell?

Keyser Soze called him a future HOF'er.

A search of the phrase "Beckham" turns up almost no hype for him outside of "Will be ready to play in the majors quickly" before he was called up.

I'm going to have to ask for evidence of all of this hype before he made it to the majors. It looks like Kyle Scwarber was hyped up far more than Beckham was.

Most cubs fans knew those guys sucked and never got excited about either, add Jackson and Baez to that list of bums too.

Dude, I sorted that in ascending order for you. That is more effort than you'll get out of anybody else. Those first 10-15 threads mentioning Beckham were all created before he was called up.

You're a young, tech savvy individual. I trust that you can do this yourself.

I specifically mentioned I used the search function and didn't find a whole lot. All you did was do Gordon Beckham instead of Beckham.

I understand that he was talked about in threads. You said there are "good posts". Please post them.

In fairness, a lot of that is Keyser. Though he is the face of CSFMB White Sox fans.

Let me know when I can link posts from the first few months of Beckham's MLB career.

So not seeing a whole lot of hype though. Thank you for proving my point.

That hype is because of what he was doing at the MLB level. I'm pretty sure it is ok to be excited about a guy as he is having a season that puts him in the top 5 in rookie of the year voting.

Right now this smacks of desperation.

Looks like Josh Fields is heading out the same door fellow #1 draft selection and fellow quarterback Joe Borchard did.

And this clownish organization just traded #1 draft selection Lance Broadway for an exciting backup catcher.

Crazy Kenny Williams out trying to get a top notch starting pitcher on a team of swiss cheese.

Let's see how this saga continues this season.

2005 is a long time in the rear view mirror.

One of few good ones.

I posted a question asking Gordon Beckham's expecations. The first reply was a picture of an MVP trophy by Keyser.

That was after he finished his rookie year.

There is no doubt he was hyped after that first year but that was at least somewhat deserved.

It would be like me getting mad that people are hyping Kris Bryant right now.

Oh man, Top 5!

Tell you what...even when you win it it doesn't mean all that much. There are Chris Coghlans, Todd Hollandsworths, Geovany Sotos, Angel Berroas and Jason Jennings. I'm not any more excited about Kris Bryant after he won the award than I was before he won it.

It's a pretty low bar. There are usually like 15 total rookies starting in a league.

Also if a Cub fan said that...

I stopped on page 3 when that dumb fuck drop in said " 7 all-star games, and an MVP"
