He had a losing record on the Sox for a reason.

It's because more often than not, he didn't pitch well enough on the Sox. genius.

More often than not, Crepe Connasiour, the scrappy Sox offense didn't provide enough run support

Always good at Pulte estates. Cubs had a series. Got a night in NY this week, but hopefully we’re start getting some high school baseball in.

Youngest daughters softball team has had 6 weather postponements so far. Illinois HS softball sucks. Play during the summer like Iowa for chrissakes.

The real concern should be that cease will end up with more career wins for the sox than Quintana gets for the cubs

All of this only matters if he doesn't help the Cubs get to the playoffs. So far he is 1/1 in that department.

Looked great today and so far happy with him since the trade.

Q was outstanding today. Great command, and changed speeds real well. Best I have seen him pitch.

I certainly think it has to be more than "he is on a team that made it to the playoffs". There's many a slip twixt the cup and the lip but it is starting to look like the Cubs gave up a premium for his services.

The Cubs are in win now mode and the Sox are in compete in 2020 mode. This trade helped both teams accomplish their goals. Winning the WS isn't easy so I think Quintana pitching well and helping the Cubs continue to make the playoffs is a win for the Cubs. If he pitches like he did the first half of last season it is a loss for the Cubs.

That is a very generic view of his value to the Cubs. He did more then just fill a roster spot on the way to the playoffs. He was critical in getting them to the NLCS and will be for the next couple years if he stays healthy.

The Cubs gave up two minor league players for Q. Hardly a premium

What happened to prospects being overvalued by Cub fans and not to treat every high draft pick like a superstar?

One Cub fan said they definitely gave a premium, another says they hardly gave up a premium just a few posts later. Such a confusing and confused group.

Would the Cubs make that same deal today?

I didn't like the deal then..I don't like it now.. He's a solid #3 starter like I've always stated.. You could have kept Eloy n signed Cobb or Lynn.

Even if you believe that both are better, how does that get you to the playoffs last year? Quintana was their best pitcher the last 2 months and helped them get to the playoffs.

I wouldn't give up a future star slugger for a #3 pitcher after winning the WS.. #3 ain't rare.

We gave up a future all star SS for a rental player who almost cost us the WS. The Cubs believed that they were a starter away from the WS and got back a cost controlled pitcher with upside. They were right about the starter but didn't foresee all the bats falling asleep.

7- 3 as a Cub..he will be above .500 again this year and next. Don't double down on dumbness, let it go.
