Come on Joe...down only 6 with two more innings and you’re bringing in Caratini to pitch?

What the fuck is Caratini doing on the mound again? Joe's going to cause the fucker to hurt his shoulder, and then we'll have to have that dumbshit Gimenez again.

Rizzo really wanted to pitch on Saturday, and Joe took him out of the game to shut him up. So it seems like he gave him a batter to make him happy.

Cubs #8 starter goes 3 1/3 and gets his ass kicked in.
Cubs bullpen goes 4 1/3 with only one run allowed.
Cubs position players go 1 1/3 with no runs allowed.

Something is wrong with this picture.

im sick of this position player pitching thing.

esp. in a 7-1 game. It's also disrespectful to the other team. Like saying you can't hit no matter who's out there.

I think it keeps the team lose and also sends a message to the guys upstairs to fucking get some more pitching.

its just disrespectful to the other team, and makes a mockery of the game and rules.

15-1 game is one thing, not 7-1.

People still want to see Major League quality pitching.

same with the switching first basemen gloves and putting pitchers out in left field. He does it too much.

It is not big deal. They have 12 games in 11 days.

A couple of relievers who would like to get some work care. Who would like to show what they can do. Bass or Norwood or whoever they are. They are sitting out there hoping to work and they have to watch Epstein's pet Rizzo all smiles as he gets to somebody else's job.

As far as 12 games in 11 days, they used that excuse up on Friday. Fine. Once in a while as a goof, we all love it.

To do it twice in 4 days, especially in a 7-1 game, is absolutely asinine and annoying.

It's like a guy doing excessive celebration after catching a touchdown while losing 41-0. It's self-serving and asinine.

It shows up the other team for no reason.

When it's your day to lose, lose gracefully and quit trying to steal the show from the other team.

Guarantee some managers will start calling him out on it.

He is 65, oldest manager in the game, he should know better than to try to show up other teams like that. It's unprofessional.

Cub fan reaction at the game was a perfect illustration of why it is such a douchey fan base. The trained seals were all standing and clapping. Half had their cell phones out as if they were catching a momentous occasion.

It always sort of fun to see a position player pitch. Adam Dunn got quite an ovation when he threw an inning for the Sox a few years back.

I'll say this about Rizzo. He is a FAR SUPERIOR pitcher than Abreu is.

Position players have no business pitching in a 7-1 game in the top of the 8th. I don't really wish physical harm on the players, but Maddon needs a comeuppance. That was only going to happen in one of two ways: Caratini or Rizzo getting hurt, or the Cubs scoring 6 in the last two innings but those guys giving up even more runs to put it out of reach.

I had no problem at all with LaStella and others pitching the other day in a 15-1 blowout.

Seems like a pretty combative approach to a team you are a fan of, I agree he does the position player pitching thing too much.

You are a White Sox fan, so I can see why the novelty has worn off for seeing guys not qualified to pitch in the major leagues, actually pitching in MLB games.

The position player pitching in these situations is a total mockery of the game. Maddon is a clown.

anyone happen to be at the game last night in the left field bleachers? Have African American friends/business associates who were beaten by a mob of security before the game started. Was hoping someone saw it and/or filmed the confrontation.
