I suspect that will be the outcome of Sunday's workout.

I have to admit to going to bed for extra sleep after the top of 9th. I wasn't willing to commit to an extra innings game especially since it coincided with the boring NFL opener heading to half time. Was pleasantly surprised to see the win in this morning's DH.

Got a trip to St Louis coming up on Sunday.....and yes I will be at a Cardinals game next week!

BTW, the extra sleep was nice.

Not to be lost in the win was another shit outing from Edwards.

Even better than that...

By one metric, Justin Wilson is the best reliever in baseball. He leads MLB by stranding 29 of 31 inherited runners, adding 2 more to the total Thursday night.

It's not gonna be Wetteland and Raviera, but the Cubs have enough good bullpen arms to get the job done. Maddon needs to use Edwards less though. He is better when used with at least one or two days between appearances. And when he demonstrates he lacks command that day, yank him right away.

Fun fact time.

If the Cubs went just 11-11 the rest of the way out, the Brewers would still have to go 15-6 and the Cardinals would still have to go 16-6 just for each team to tie.

The crew's schedule is shitty enough to definitely do that or more. Aside from the Cubs and Cards series they play shit.

Fucking idiots, they started the game late, got a whole inning into the books, and now it's delayed again.

Joe should have started de la Rosa, and held Lester back until the rain was out of the area.

Who ever gave this game a green light to start for all of a inning, needs to be fired tonight. Someone needs to talk to Joe as well. To allow Lester to go out there might be the dumbest managerial move of season, in MLB.

I played the fun fact game in 2004 with about 17 games to go.

Why is Madden taking him out? This is a lost game against Scherzer. Make Garcia throw 75 pitches.

No. He just missed on quite a few pitches. They didn’t have any hard contact. Let him settle in.

Very little life from the boys. I'm kicking myself for not taking the Cub under 3 runs, that was a gift.

maybe they're saving themselves for game 2. this rain really fucked them up this series. let's hope for a split.

Looks like Joe is going to use multiple relievers in this 1st game of a double header instead of letting one go 4 or 5 Innings. Must be hoping for a gem from Hamel.

It's not like that'd be a longshot.

I'm just tuning in ... has he been bullpen from the start or did someone start and get yanked early (hey buddy)?

1st inning he got pulled if i remember. jamie garcia.

he didnt look like he had it but rizzo fucked up a potential double play letting 2 runs score and happ missed an easy pop up giving them 3 runs total.

i mean it's only 3-0 but vs sherzer it's almost impossible. maybe if they hold them and get into the pen they still got a chance.
