Best of luck to my Cubs. I don't have a good feeling about this, but that goes with being a Cubs fan. I'm glad we have Daniel Murphy on our side. Murphy and Zobrist are the type of guys that can ignite the rest of the team.

Here would be my lineup:

Murphy:2nd
Zobrist:RF
Bryant:LF
Rizzo:1st
Baez:SS
Heyward:CF
Contreras:c
Bote:3rd
Quintanna:p

Make sure Carl Edwards is in the bullpen in Miller Park ready when needed.

My boss called a meeting last night at noon today to discuss "business" for 3 hours at a local restaurant. They happen to have really good food and
an excellent beer selection. Should be interesting as he is a big Brewers fan and I root for the Cubs.

They blew a five-game lead in a month.

Cubs lose 2-0 and host Wild Card Game and win 8-2 to make it to the division series and lose in the first round 3-2.

And 4 of those wins were against the Cubs. If Quintana didn't have their number it would have probably been 6. You don't blow a 5 game lead after Labor Day when you are playing the majority of your games in Chicago.

True, they didn't blow a postseason berth or even blow forcing the 163. Maybe more of a coughing fit followed by ejecting a half-chewed chunk of gristle.

The team has had 4 series victories (winning 2 of 3) and one tied series (Pirates 2-2) in the last 5. You do that over the course of a season and you will have the best record in Baseball. Your post makes no sense. The brewers sweeping both the Cardinals and Tigers in a stunning finish to the 162 game regular season, may make you FEEL as if the Cubs are not playing all that well, but the reality is they have played exceptionally well given they lost their Closer and set up man, who had become the closer and yet have continued to win at a very good rate.

You would be singing a different song if they didn't have the safety net of the wild card, but hey, it turns out the cubs really didn't need to get better if baseball got a little bit worse

The Cubs winning percentage for the year was .586. In September it was .570, they under performed in September relative to the season as a whole.

Like Nas said, you've got a 5 game lead on Labor Day, it's on you if you don't outright win the division.

All that said, take down the Brewers today, and get ready to possibly see them again on Thursday.

Go Cubs.

If they didn't have the wild card, they would still be playing today for the division crown and the best record in the league.

They were playing a team that honestly wasn't that good. They knew they needed to win, and only took 2 of 3. Plus a split with a dead Pirates team.

You were stunned that a Brewers team playing to secure a playoff berth and avoid the wild card swept a 98 loss Tigers team that stopped giving a shit in June?

The Tigers started a human being named Spencer Turnbull, a 26 year old rookie making his third career start in the last game of the season. You're stunned the Tigers couldn't pull that one out?

As always, you are failing to grasp the point.

The Cubs shouldn't be playing in ANY game today for ANY reason. They should be picking up their dry cleaning from the champagne soaked celebration that took place last Wednesday.

Good point, not very enthusiastic.

The Cubs magic number is one though, so a Brewers loss in their game works just as well.

Can you hook me up with the info on if the Brewers are the favorite to win their game. Thanks for the help.
