Maddon won't make it past June.

Theo's handling of this matter doesn't have the scent of sustained success.

Theo has done everything possible it seems, to get Maddon to request that management allow him to seek another job and then void the final year of his deal. but Maddon for whatever reason has not made the request. I wish he would and they could turn the page and move on.

I think Joe will make make it through the year, then ride off into the sunset. Theo would never fire his hand picked Messiah with only a year left, then have to explain.

Maddon will never make that request because his 2019 salary is guaranteed you holy fucking mother of stupid cocksuckers.

Are you really that stupid. Asking permission from the Cubs to explore other opportunities would have no effect on his contract, unless he were to find another desirable job. Then and only then, he would offer to mutually void the final year of his deal, so he could take ANOTHER GUARANTEED contract with another team. A longer deal, perhaps for even more money, who knows. You really are dumb.

Theo's smart enough to know if he's perceived as pushing Joe out, Cub Nation will turn on Theo quickly.

Slowly but surely Theo's honeymoon is winding down. Maddon's in the catbird seat for next year. If they didn't squeek out a world series win, they'd both be deemed huge failures with the Cubs.

Huge failures? In the past 4 years they have won 97, 103, 92 and 95 games. They qualified for the post-season each of those seasons, with 3 straight trips to the NLCS. Even without a World Series title, that is a hell of a nice run, with no end in sight soon.

I was thinking mini dynasty after the rebuild. More draft picks all-star caliber. Sound free agent signings. I never dreamed in a million years Theo would peddle his 3 top minor leaguers. One world series win is great, but things could have been handled better.
