Guys can throw 120-125 pitches. He had more in the tank.

Plus Joe is killing the bullpen way too early in the season.

The claims Heyward is a better defensive outfielder than Almora is a load of bs.

I didn't agree with pulling Yu when he did, but I'm guessing 90% of today's genious managers would have done the same. Darvish finally gets a win, but FFS....could the guy find his way through the 6th inning at least once?

I'd bet that he will pitch however he has to pitch to wind up with a no decision.

Where did the gurus come up with 95-100 pitches you're out? If a guy pitched 125 pitches every 5th day would the world end?

Three parallel thoughts are prevalent:

1. Pitchers who throw more innings are more likely to get hurt. 200 IP used to be the minimum I'd expect a #3 starter to throw back in the 1990s. Now there are only a handful of starters who go that far.

2. Many starters are less effective the third time through a lineup than a team's third best reliever, and even more are less effective the 4th time through a lineup than the second best reliever. So you see a lot of 5 1/3 with 7 base runners these days, as that's 23 batters.

3. Starters through more challenging pitches these days, because back in the 1970s there were always 2-3 guys with .630 OPS hovering at the bottom of the lineup, usually 2B/SS/C.

Personally, I subscribe to the theory that it's not the number of innings pitched, but the number of innings with 25+ pitches that is the problem. Too much fucking nibbling by both the pitcher and the hitter. But I know in rookie ball the Cubs have a hard limit that nobody can pitch more than 30 pitches in an inning, if they get there they get yanked.

I tuned in just in time for Schwarbs to strike out. This strike out is brought to you by funkaway. Kyle get the funkaway from this team already. I see he had a hit but that was probably the pitcher locating the ball where the bat was projected to be.

In addition to not being able to hit, Bryant can no longer field.

Cassie is begging for a mid season trade home. The play the other night and then swinging at a fastball a foot off the plate?

Is it some sort of 'in' thing for people to be incapable of discussing sports without using dumbass-sounding names to refer to the players?

Zobrist without an extra-base hit this year.
