funny how the Cubs could win 5 in a row, close big gaps with both WAS and STL, and yet with one loss they are hanging on for dear life.

Anyway, they are still a cinch playoff team. Win tomorrow, they win 3 of 4 vs STL, and then PIT is also beatable. Main obstacle is at STL the last weekend but i believe by that time they are in the drivers seat and it will be theirs to lose (which they did last year but it wouldnt happen 2 years in a row).

Keep in mind STL also plays at Arizona next week who is fighting for the playoffs also.

Its the same Cubs team no matter who is in the lineup. 4-5 games where they score 4+ runs and look like they are going to go on that 10+ game winning streak this team had multiple times from 2015-2018. Then the offense completely shits the bed for the next 2-4 games getting shut down by pitchers like Mahle, who is on one of the longest losing streaks for a pitcher in history. This is why I can't watch this fucking team.

They are also blowing a game where Lester has only let up a run when most of this second half he has been shitting the bed. If its this maddening for the fans, I can only imagine what it must be like for the coaches and managers.

They refuse to adjust or game plan for their opponent. They have that stubborn attitude that their shit works vs anyone and they will not alter their approach for anyone. This is how a team like the Brewers (and now reds with the old brewers pitching coach) can develop a simple game plan for getting them out. Give them shit pitches that are strategically just out of the strike zone and they will swing because in their minds they can hit every pitch at every location. When this team starts taking walks then pitchers start coming back to the zone and the hit parade begins. Games like last night and tonight...they are only getting hits on horrible mistakes by the pitcher.
