so Yu and Caratini for 4 middle of the road prospects. fucking terrible right now. I actually would have liked to keep Caratini and got rid of Contreras. Well at least they did something. Maybe if the Cubs were more aggressive and did this before the Snell trade they could have got more.

This trade is embarrassing. The Cubs were the equivalent of a 91 win team last year and they are shedding pieces at a pretty staggering rate. None of those prospects will have any impact - if any at all - prior to 2023.

trading a big name pitcher for prospects are fine but they got to be like top 10 , top 5 guys.

Davies is a solid starter. Hopefully they can resign him if he does well. The prospects are all in their late teens. Theo left such a mess something big had to be done. I don't think this is the end.

I'm sure Theo wanted to give it one more shot w/ this roster and make some minor moves but Ricketts was like no, i'm broke, we got to start trading or getting rid of guys.

Mena - born in 2002, played in DSL
Cassie - 2nd round pick in 2018, played in AZL in 2019
Santana - oldest of the four, played in AZL in 2019 and hit very well.

So these are obviously guys the Cubs had scouted, but haven't played enough to make it up the prospect rankings. Still lottery tickets.

The SS part isn't the problem. They are typically your best athletes and can be moved to other positions. Not getting a top 5 prospect while also eating salary is.
