since i constantly strive to be the best at whatever i do, i was hoping you could clarify if my post was THE silliest, THE dumbest or THE most ridiculous, and if not, in which area do my posts need the most improvement to be at the top? i actually thought mine was the clearcut winner in all 3 categories.

Oh,so you were one of the 1000 White Sox "Fans" at the game today. Embarrassment to major league baseball that Sox fans can't support their team! Take a look at the Cubs game. Even the National fans come out to cheer their team.

Move the White Sox somewhere that the fans will show up and support the team.

BR- You are trying to make a point that I am a Cubs Fan? I am and I also root for the White Sox and it bothers me that a great deal of "Other" White Sox Fans seem to spend more time worrying about the Cubs, Cubs Fans and what the Cubs are doing instead of supporting the White Sox and rooting for the team. It always makes me laugh when I attend a white Sox game, how much talk is centered around the Cubs etc and the White Sox opponent is some team other than the Cubs. I believe that if Brooks Boyer had a "I hate the Cubs" t-shirt giveaway, that game would be a sell out. Even if that day was a game against the Rays!!!
I support both teams, but I rather you call me a Cubs Fan or Chicago Baseball Fan , than to call me a Sox Fan. But I do not work for either side of town, but given a choice I would rather work for the White Sox.

He wasn't questioning or commenting on your fandom, but the hypocracy of your posts concerning fans of the Sox posting in the Cubs forum.

So what did Lieber say that caused the ump to scream at him in the 8th? You could barely see a reaction from Lieber after that throw so it had to be said. Also, that ump became an asshat late in the game, especially on that call when he shook his head instead of just calling it a ball. That was showing up the pitcher more than anything else.

So if I call myself a "Chicago Baseball Fan" can I talk trash about the Cubs because I am telling everyone that I "root for the Cubs" but I would prefer it if you didn't call me a "Cubs fan"?

To put it bluntly, you are a Cubs fan who follows the Sox. You are heading over to the White Sox sandbox just like the Sox fans against the Cubs. I could call myself a Cubs fan since I have watched some of their games this year and I've been to Wrigley Field before.

That's my point. You seem to have rationalized the fact that because you are a "Chicago Baseball Fan" that you can make the same stupid tired argument about attendance that screams "meatball fan". Sox fans know that the stadium isn't sold out all the time like Wrigley. Some of us even like that fact. It clearly hasn't hurt the results on the field and I don't have to sit on ticketmaster.com clicking refresh hoping to secure a ticket on the day tickets go on sale.

If you have a problem with Sox fans who get all worked up about Cubs business, then you need to be a good example and stop being a Cubs fan who has an issue with Sox business.

i dont know what he said, but the pitch was not a strike, it was off the edge. some umps would have called it, but he hadnt been all night.

taking off the mask and making a big fuss about it was childish on the umps part. he was probably pissed that he had to work the plate after the original home plate ump left in the 3rd.

Im a Sox fan so this is the first time Ive checked this thread. Badger Vince is a moron. He's one of those prententious cocksucker Cub fans that loves to talk shit about Sox fans in a very hypocritical way. Sox fans dont have an inferiority complex, and I find the assertion funny. The Sox have definitely had more success over the past 15 years or so.

Darkside is an example of a Cubs fan that I can respect and actually makes me want to root for the Cubs. He's all about the Cubs and is indifferent to the Sox and their fans. He might retort if someone is talking shit, but he doesnt just troll the board trying to pick fights with Sox fans like Badger Vince does. I dont get all the Cubs/Sox bickering on this board. Both teams definitely have the meatball demographic of their fanbases represented through certain posters on here. I guess Badger Vince is volunteering for representative of the Cubs.

I desperately seek kerchungathunk's attention and am not smart enough to figure out a positive way to get it.

1 down, to to go.

I still need one more loss from the Tigers.

Aw shucks GD. All you had to do was ask.

That said, if the starters and bullpen pull two more performances like that, you'll have your wish granted. Jeez, but that was horrible.

Also, the "rivalry" between the Sox and Cubs is the dumbest thing I've ever witnessed. Being married to a Cards fan and having Cards fans for in-laws, I can tell you that before 2005, their portion of the baseball world just laughed at Chicago baseball as a whole. The entire pissing contest of who was better was laughable.
It still is, but now the Sox have their title. You have to respect and admire the accomplishment. Our day will come, and then there will be the delightful argument of... whatever idiotic specious point du jour people come up with. It's all crap and I try to ignore it. I fall victim to the petty bickering in my more immature moments. Hell, that's what this board is for afterall. [/i]

FF- thank you too for making my point. I am embarrassed that Chicago has a professional baseball team that annually (I go back more than 15 years) struggles to entice it's fan base to increase. Say what you will, but cheering for a team and focussing on the opponent of the day or series rather than constantly looking across town to see what others are doing would be a better use of all White Sox fans time. The success the White Sox had in 2005 has only helped the Cubs and I am sure the same can be said of the Mets/Yankees. One teams success will fuel the others need to succeed. Nothing would make me happier than to have the Cell filled every game as Wrigley has been over the years. Next time you run into Brooks Boyer ask him how he feels about the Sox fan base and attendance, maybe his opinion will enlighten you more than a "Chicago Baseball Fan's" will. See you at the park or not!

it wasnt always that way you know. for many years the cubs didnt draw flies. im not old enough to have gone to games in the 70s, but in the 80s and early 90s you could still walk up and get tickets with no problems. i havent been to a game in a long time, but from what i understand, it isnt easy.

Why not just put a GPS tracker in the ball like they have in the puck during some hockey games? No, i smell a stinker here with this idea :)

The cubs need a W tonight to break the record for most W's in April! Let's go Dempster (3-0)!

Big 6 run first, and 12 total for the game through 5. Huge night for Soto.

Dempster gets great run support -AGAIN! This guy has got to have the best fortune so far this year, where run support is concerned. It's nice to see the Cub's get off to a strong start in this game. Good to see Soto get his swing back too.

When one looks at the pitching match-ups , it makes sense that the Brewers ( behind their ace Sheets-even if he was coming back from an injury) would win the first game against Marquis. Based on early returns, it follows that the Cub's might win tonights game too. But the most intrigueing match-up with Gallardo facing Zambrano. That as Brickhouse might have said is gonna be a dandy little pitching match-up. Lets just hope the bats have something left, after scoring so many runs tonight.

Mission accomplished.

Doesn't mean a whole helluva lot without a win tomorrow though. Need to punch out Gallardo and get into that bullpen. Gallardo has an absurd ERA of 0.64 through 13 innings but has a 0-0 record. The bullpen has fucked up his starts and he's not strong enough yet to go 9. Gotta keep being patient at the plate (at least 5 walks a game for the last 5 games? When the hell was the last time the Cubs were that patient?) and take advantage of any opportunities. They will be few and far between with Gallardo tomorrow.

Might as well bat Soriano 9 and lead off Z when he pitches. Just as likely to get a lead-off homer with Z and a better average.

Why was Soriano not taken out for defensive purposes?

Wood needs to hit the lead-off guys in the 9th more often. Good gravy is this bad.

Soriano already screwing things up in the outfield. Wood hitting lead-off men. I haven't complained once about Wood all season, but this is the second time he's blown a save when facing the bottom of the order... unacceptable.

I gave you the benefit of the doubt Kerry because I liked you, but you suck as a closer and need to go on the Dempster workout regimen and become a starter again.

The opposite was proven. I understand the argument, and it is popular among the sabermetricians, but there is just something different about the 9th.
