Of course I'm watching. I just got my order from New Era- a cap for every NL team. The Cubs one will be sacrificed on the campfire later this summer :P

My question is on a night after the Cubs were off and St. Louis went through their bullpen the night before the Cubs couldnt make Pinero throw more than 90 pitches? Really??? I mean its not like its Roy Halladay or Johan Santana up there cmon. Plus who the hell are some of these guys the Cardinals are running out there to play the outfield and 3b? I mean this team is in 1st? Really?

They're tied for 2nd (with the cubs). 3 games behind Milwaukee.

This is probably one of the most frustrating Cubs teams of recent vintage - on a level with the 2004 team.

I agree with Elmhurst Steve - Ascanio and Patton aren't ready - unfortunately we have to keep Patton on the roster.

Cotts is horrible which is why I still believe the Cubs should (and probably will) put Marshall in the bullpen permanently and move Wells into the rotation. This will strengthen the pen while hopefully not hurting the rotation.

Although it will probably never happen, I am personally hoping that the Cubs and Sox can get together on a deal where the Cubs acquire Bobby Jenks. Maybe we can send them Reed Johnson to solve part of their center field problem? I'd hate to part with him, but he doesn't get much playing time as it is now.

 Holy shit thanks for the laugh. A premier closer for a 4th outfielder. Maybe they can also send Buehrle for Miles so they can solve their 2B 'problem'??

Was in 1st place then. Milwaukee isn't that impressive either and losing Weeks for the year is going to hurt them.

Len and Bob said that Pineiro retired 5 batters on 7 pitches during that stretch.

Not often since the Maddux era do you see a 94 pitch complete game...

On another note, Carp and Ankiel back today....

Carp is on a 75 pitch count total. Based on yesterday's lack of patience, that should get him into the 7th inning and a well rested bullpen. The Cubs could've really put the screws to the Cards by getting heavily into the bullpen last night, knowing that Carp wouldn't pitch long into the game. Shit.

I wasn't overly concerned about it, nobody juggles a bullpen on a day-to-day, week-to-week basis, quite like LaRussa and Duncan.

Full disclosure:

I have the utmost respect for Duncan. LaRussa also has a track record that cannot be disputed. Besides which, my wife and all my lovely, blessed in-laws are Cards fans. I have to admire the genius that is Cardinal Nation. 8)

Cham/Bana is not short on cocksucking Cardinal fans, either. We're fucking lousy with 'em.
The local AM radio station, 1400 WDWS, is on the Cardinal network, for Christ's sake.

This has to be one of the worst hitting infields ever. Right now your options are Lee, Miles, Theriot, Scales, Fontenot, and Micah. This is horrible. Fontenot, Scales, Miles, and Micah are bench guys at best. Lee is finished, and Theriot is average at best. 2 Solid starts this series gone to waste. Agree with B&B, Pinero will never have a game like that again. Just horrible at bats by them all night, and its carried over again tonight.

 I haven't seen anything about him back around here. I would venture to say he won't be back, I think he burned all his bridges around here.

Fontenot really sucks. He has had bad at bats all night. Hendry really fucked that up. He listened to the meatballs who said he was an everyday player.

Well, the Cub don't get shutout two games in a row, but that don't mean these guys still don't fucking blow.

Reed's bat was slow, he was late on everything, and swung at horrible pitches. Another great Hendry pickup.

nah i was only there for junior high. i hated it. probably some of the worst years of my life. and really really bad times for my family. but there was a positive--it's where i discovered the internet through a friend of mine. back then, there were only BBS's...none of this high tech shit.

did also enjoy silver dollar city. branson is hilariously cliche (the poconos of the midwest) but SDC was quality.

Branson is, well it is something. But Silver Dollar City is pretty cool, took the kids there a couple weeks ago, actually got in free as we ran into an old couple who were season pass holders and had some free passes for the day, was a fun time.

And another problem is he's not a third baseman. I have a feeling his numbers might be better if he was playing second.

Not to sure about that. He hasn't been hitting since the first week of the season.

Either Lou picked great spots to play him last season, that allowed him to prosper so much, or the league has adjusted to him. Lil Lord Fontenot looks overmatched too often these days. Nice to see Hoffpauir get a chance to swing the bat. Nice solid RBI hit there in the 9th. Too bad Lou didn't start him at 1st and get him more at bats. Carpenter picked up where he left off....he still has not given up a run in 2009! I hope he tears a ligament/tendon/something again soon.

Oh damn. I really don't like these two quotes:

Derrek Lee wrote:
Carpenter is the nastiest pitcher I've faced all year. No excuses. We're professionals. We've got to score, but just don't blow it out of proportion.

Wow. Just wow. To hear an All-Star 1st baseman say something like that. Maybe Urlacher's Missing whatever was right about this. No excuses? damn the sentence right before that was an excuse! A ball player needs to know that he can hit any pitcher, ANY pitcher, every time he walks into the box.

Paul Sullivan wrote:
Bradley said the loss to Carpenter was not like losing to "Joe Blow."

Again with the "we were facing a good pitcher" shit. Are we gonna get 5 hits over 18 innings once a series because we're not facing "Joe Blow?"

This is the kind of crap that happened during the Dusty regime that pissed me off. Lou need to nip this shit right in the bud. If he's not doing that, he's not managing well.
