The more I was this team, the more pissed off I get at Hendry. He made a 97 win team weaker.

Looks like Hoff is going to start showing everyone why he was in the minors until he was 30.

He shows such again with not giving himself the angle to make a better throw to 2nd just now.

To lose 8 in a row, and the last 4 be against the Padres and Pirates, thats bad. Someone needs to go tonight or in the morning. It can be Miles, Cotts, Fontenot, Lee, Johnson, Freel, and Hendry. All of them derserve it.

Well Hoff just struck out when he could of tied the game, and guess what, it was on a breaking ball again.

Pretty bad that Lou never got Fukudome in to pinch hit. I know there were alot of lefties used, but I would rather have him up there than Miles and the other shit he used.

right on. i couldnt believe he pinch hit carlos fucking zambrano over any professional hitter, i dont care WHAT side of the plate he hits from. zambrano should not be pinch hitting for any reason in any potential run-scoring situation. anyone who thinks he is a professional hitter needs their eyes examined. for every hit he gets, he looks completely hopelessly lost 3 times, and he NEVER takes a walk.

whenever zambrano comes up with runners on, especially in a pinch hitting situation he just takes wild hacks in hopes of hitting a home run and the meatball fans at wrigley just chant his name like hes babe ruth. dont get me wrong i love watching zambrano bat...when hes pitching that day. but he shouldnt be used in an important situation like that with fukudome on the bench

zambrano batting is nothing more than a funny sideshow act. sometimes he gets a hold of one, and it is funny, and we all love it, but i cringe whenever i see him called on to actually pinch hit. he looked like a buffoon last night, when the cubs needed some base runners for the real hitters to drive in. at least fukudome has a fair chance of drawing a walk, even if it is a lefty on lefty situation.

 It was pretty funny. In real speed I thought Carlos was right, but looking at the replay I think he was safe.

Brenly just pointed out something good. The Ump was moving towards Carlos when the bump occured. Carlos was not trying to bump up against him.

the ump definitely initiated the contact on that one.

and the call couldve gone either way. he couldve been called out just as easily as he was called safe

I have not seen it, but heard about it...definite suspension for sure just because of his actions, regardless of bumping (who's fault).

Well I've seen enough from one AB to say Jake Fox is way better than Hoffpauir who is way better than Lee. He should be the everyday starting 1B.

Yes that's sarcasm, mostly.

Hoffpauir and Fox play the game it was meant to be played and are not wusses who don't try hard and blame their terrible play on injuries. Derek Lee and Aramis Ramirez are just another version of T.O. Get em outta here Hendry!!

Milton Bradley is also on notice. Scales will be back soon to take your job away.

Maybe the meatball fans are the ones who sat thru Banks, Santo, Grace,Ryno,Maddux,D Lee.Big Z and A Ram.
The true meatball fans are the ones that endear themselves to LOSERS

At least the Cubs were able to get back to winning a series-even if it was against the Pirates. Good to see Aaron Miles gone for a while Fox and the 2nd baseman they brought up, both got big hits (doubles at that) when they needed a hit. That was great to see. Maybe these guys, who were doing so well at AAA, can help out a bit, while the Cubs continue to battle injuries. Good to be back over .500 but now it's imperative they continue to win series'. Nice to see Hoffpauir get 2 big RBI hits in game 2 of the Pirate series. Then Lee plays at 1st in game 3. But it was a lefty on the mound, so that makes sense. It would be nice to see this lil winning streak grow a whole lot. But against the Dodgers, that's going to be a tough task.

The pirates suck. If the Cubs are as good as you claim them to be, they should take at least 2 of 3 from the Pirates 10 times out of 10.

Anytime you have to bring up minor leaguers into the mix this early in the season-- due to poor performance and injuries-- it does not bode well for the success of the big club. I'm not talking one guy here. The Cubs have brought up several players.

Zambrano acted more like an ass than an ace yesterday. If he gets that amped up against the Pirates in the middle of May, how in the world would he be able to act like a professional in October if there is a close play? Say bye-bye to him for 6 or 7 games soon.

Morgan was safe at the plate, an excellent slide. He also made a bonehead base running play 2 innings later that really saved the Cubs hide in this one.

Random thought, Jared Weaver is clearly in the head of Sox hitters.

It is not a good thing, that the Cubs HAD to bring guys up from AAA, due to injury or poor performance. However, it is a good thing that these guys performed well, when given the opportunity. Last season, it was guys like Hoffpauir and Soto ( after a good month and a half in 07) as well as Fontenot, who came up to contribute. Hopefully, the Cubs can get similar boosts from young players coming up from the minors in 09.

Zambrano did lose it, no doubt. But I think that was frustration there. Soriano had just played a single by Morgan, into a triple (2 base error). With the Cubs in a skid as they were, Zambrano probably looked at that error as possibly costing the team the 1 run lead they had and he got mad. Then when he thought he made a great play to block the plate and get Morgan and the call went against him, the frustration boiled over. It was just a really competitive guy, who wanted to step up for his team to end a losing streak, losing his cool. It's real unfortunate, as it probably will result in him being suspended and losing a start.

It is not simply "just a competitive guy getting frustrated". BS. Zambrano is a nutcase, plain and simple. He needs to learn to control his emotion on the field. Arguing and getting ejected is one thing. Showing up the umpire, firing a ball toward the stands, and beating a water cooler is childish and unnacceptable for anybody to do. Much less a guy with a proven track record of being unstable.

He is going to get a 10 gamer and may be reduced down to 6 or 7. The "bump" was nothing, but it was still contact with the ump. The actions after said "bump" is whats going to get him. He deserves it.
