This is what, two games at least that Wells should have won but didn't because Gregg couldn't hold the lead.

Good thing it wasn't Zambrano that Gregg lost the games for or Zambrano might have gone Michael Barrett on his ass.

Scales needs to go after that at bat. He bunted at 2 really bad pitches. Nice story, but there is a reason you were in the minors at age 30, you suck.

Is Gregg again to be the league leader in Blown saves?

Awful performance by that bullpen tonight. From what I saw, that Wells kid pitched his ass off.

This is another game you can put on Hendry. His great bullpen pick ups blew this game, between Gregg and Heilman. Hendry needs to go if this team doesn't put it together.

I'm really starting to give up on this "team"...and the "wait till next year" thoughts are kicking in.

Soriano = lazy, undisciplined, un-focused "home run or nothin"
Theriot = dumb decision maker, only make a routine play, can I hit a homer
Fuk = ????
Lee = LAZY, uninterested, unispired, catch the f'n ball !!!
Bradley = mental case, folding under pressure, injured
Soto = fat, undisciplined, lazy, block a f'n ball in the 9th you f'n prick!
Fontenot = strikeout, bench player,
Ramirez = missed
SP = OK
RP = terrible...Marmol = head case, Gregg = joke, No lefty = Hendry sucks!
Manager = boiling pot? yeah right...go off on these guys just once!
Pitching Coach = job for life apparantly

and so on....I'm pissed and semi-hopeless for this "team" of selfish & undisciplined bunch of chokers. Someone care to paint a "warm & fuzzy" outlook for me?

If you must blame anyone for last nite's loss you have to blame Soto and Marmol. Anyone who blames Gregg is clueless about baseball.

Gregg got the 1st three out in the 9th, his catcher has to catch a 3rd strike.

Marmol has to throw strikes, absolutely pathetic performance last nite. Do you people still think this goof who cant throw strikes should be the closer?

Even D Lee could possibly get some of the blame. That ball he dropped in the 8th is the 3rd ball I have seen him drop at 1st this year, and I haven't even watched the Cubs a whole lot this year. How many other 1st baseman have dropped 3 balls this year?

I believe baseball is a game in which everything eventually evens out. The last 2 years the Cubs have played really good while remaining pretty much injury free. This year it is catching up to them.

Then I am clueless. Yeah Marmol, Lee and Soto certainly contributed to the loss and its not all on Gregg, but Gregg certainly has proven (last year and this year) that he is NOT A CLOSER. Errors happen, your pitcher needs to pitch around them. It's not like the tying run scored on Soto's misplay, all Gregg had to do is retire on more batter. And its not like he was facing Manny Ramirez, Francoeur is on a pace to hit 10 HRs this year. The guy's OBP is .275.

I too am ready to give up on this team. Yeah they are only 4 games out but bad bullpens are hard to fix during a season. And you can't win over 162 games with a bad bullpen. This summer looks like it will be Cub-free for me.

i feel so bad for randy wells. honestly since hes come into the rotation he has without a doubt pitched better than anyone on the cubs and they keep finding ways to blow the game for him

Bad Dude, that was a wild pitch, not Soto's fault, it was a strikeout pitch, but it's in the dirt with rotation, and it's not a guaranteed stop.
That 390 foot game tying home run sure wasn't the fault of Soto. I mean, Soto didn't put a meaty FB right over the plate in the hitting zone did he?
Awful performance AGAIN from Gregg.

Darko is correct, Soto didn't didn't put that fastball on a tee like Gregg did. Buddude, stick to breaking down footwear at Bryan Adams shows, and leave baseball talk to others.

win as a team & lose as a team and Gregg is a big part of why they lost last night. I am not sure we can call this a "team" at all. It is looking to be a collection of individual players who cannot do the little things to win a game (get a bunt down, block a ball (soto), catch a ball (lee), make a tough play (Theriot), throw strikes (Marmol)...

I don't remember Marmol with all the "schtick" going on last year. When did he develop this whole hold the ball in the right hand outside of the glove & then come set "quickly" with this little "attitude" while looking in for the sign? It seems contrived and the results surely suck. Too bad we don't have a reliable pitching coach to keep him in line.

RE: Marmol... not new, he's been doing this since converted from a starter IIRC.

Get Peavy and move Dempster back to the bullpen, because the only closer the Cubs have is him!

Somebody said it earlier but I really have no idea what the Cubs scouts saw in Gregg to want to bring him on board. His stuff is pathetic and he has bad command of his pitches. Heilman actually has decent stuff but he is a mental midget and throws hittable fastballs with no movement in dumb counts. This bullpen is just an out an out abomination and the blame falls on Hendry. Counting on Neal Cotts to be the lone lefty out of the pen and then when he fails....your next best option is a guy who is 29 and has a 5 run era in Iowa??? There are only 2 people I trust in this Cubs pen at all and thats Marmol and Guzman. And that is not a recipe for a winning season. I doubt the rest of these jokers are going to magically stop sucking.

Great work hendry. You made alot of changes to a playoff team and you missed big on every single one of them.

That bullpen is a disaster, and the hitting has underachieved.

They aren't out of this, but they remind me of a team having a hangover from a successful season.

The bullpen disaster pitched 15 scoreless innings prior to yesterday.
is that REALLY a disaster? Or just a bad meltdown in a bad spot?

The cubs bullpen is 22nd in baseball with a 4.82 ERA.

I am not going to break it down with stats or anything but honestly do you feel comfortable as a Cubs fan when you see Gregg enter a game? How about Heilman? Cotts? The Patton Ascanio Waddell pu pu platter? This bullpen is bad and I know as a fan I have lost confidence in them. Why dont you ask Randy Wells if the pen is a disaster?

I think after Zambrano's latest antics,the next time he is pitching with a lead in the 5th,the Cubs should put Wells in to pitch so he gets credit for the possible win.
I'm sure Carlos woud not mind. :eye:

Not happening, otherwise it would have already. The Cubs are handcuffed until (or IF) the sale of the team goes through - We're forced to play with what we've got, so we're pretty much fucked...

Um...yeah...thanks for making me feel just a little more "shitty" about this team. I do not feel comfortable with any of them and Gregg as a closer is "too hittable".
