Matty's love for Koyie Hill is irritating.

IIRC, Theriot did not do well leading off last year. I don't have that level of splits available to me at this time, so I can't be sure, but I think I remember him being fairly ineffective.

Baseball reference had him batting .368 with a .419 OBP in 74 PAs batting first last year. 14 PAs this year for .154 and .214 leading off.

I'm not saying Soriano isn't OK for the Cubs at leadoff. What I'm saying is that as bad as the CUbs offense has been, moving Soriano down to 5th might shake things up a bit and get somebody cooking in the middle of that lineup.

My thoughts regading trying Fuke in the leadoff spot are that he has a swing similar to a slap hitter...and I think if someone worked with him on stoping the crazy corkscrew swing follow through, which he does because he is swinging too hard, that perhaps he could at least get on base occasionally, which Fonzie doesnt do.
The Cubs are really screwed with Fuke, Fonzie & Bradley. It amazes me the Hendry & Lou wanted these 3 clowns...and now they are stuck with them to the tune of what, $35 million per year?

It's not because he's swinging too hard... It's because he opens his hips way too early in his swing. It's the whole approach, slap and run, it does not translate to the American/MLB version of the game.
Stay in the box, square up them hips, and he'll hit.

Many that is true, but an incomplete statement.
