Perhaps the electricity felt during the series vs the Sux, has jump started this team and gotten them going in the direction most people felt they were headed when the season started. I still feel as if Hendry did a poor job assembling this group. But there is still a lot of talent. With guys hitting again, this is a lot more fun to watch.

Only the Cubs can give up 3 homeruns in a series, to a guy who had 1 entering the series. Lou has over used Gregg and Marmol. I have no idea who closes tomorrow, if we have a lead in the 9th.

Isn't that yet another year the Cubs didn't win the World Series?

Now, that's funny. Lemme guess, there's a two drink minimum and you'll be here all week.

Not happy enough with '05, some Sox fans gotta leave flaming bags of dogshit on the porch, ring the bell and run off.

Amazing.

This is how esoteric baseball stats are. Today's walk off win was the third in a row. It's the first time since 1946 that the Cubs have done that.
Baseball is great for this kind of stuff.

As far as 1989 goes, I don't know. There's no Walton ROY candidate running around in the outfield (our defending ROY is a mite portly this year) and I don't remember there being dead weight like Bradley in the lineup, but we'll see. All they have to do is get into the post season and then see who is playing the best at that time. I said at the beginning of the year that I didn't think they'd make it. I hope I'm wrong.

I was more coming from the angle of winning games they should not have won and winning them in a strange fashion. This team is not good, just like the 1989 squad. It was baseball magic, hitting and running with the bases loaded, Zimmer pulling out all the stops, etc. This team still blows, but may very well win the division. I don't see much more after that though. Like you, I hope I am wrong.

I am anxious to see how they fare against the Tigers and the Sux on the South side. Beating up on the worst bullpen around, makes for fun/entertaining/exciting baseball. But it is something a lot of teams have enjoyed doing. I just hope the trend can carry on past this series and become a regular thing the rest of the season and into the post-season.

How sweep it is!!! Now on to Atlanta and then off to Detroit, where the Cubs will be able to use the DH. That should be a real advantage, as the Cubs have some very good hitters (Hoffpauir, Fox) that have a hard time making their way onto the field. Actually, with the following series on the South side, they will have 6 games scheduled, where they could use a DH.

4 in a row, hope they can keep this big blue party train rolling!!! :thumleft:  :thumright:
