This whole manager wearing the uniform thing should be optional. Lou and Dusty need to be in warm-up or a sweatsuit at their age and with their bodies.

I have been saying this for awhile....Hendry is definitely stupid enough to pull the trigger on this and pitch it as Lee veto'd his no trade and then took a home town discount to trade cause he is the new Mr. Cub. Fuck Derrek Lee the sooner we get rid of the new Fred McGriff the better.

I just don't get it. You have a massively underachieving big league club that has completely cashed it in and you have a winning AAA club with the majority of hitters being either around, at, or above .300 and yet they sit there... doing work.. day in and day out and nothing changes. I am extremely uncertain about what the goals of this organization are. Are they trying to save money and nickel and dime everything?? or do they have too many proud people there where they have to acknowledge and pay respect to past accomplishments even though they could just show them all the door right now in a respectful manner and get on with life. The one thing I can not understand is that if you are going to nickel and dime everything then why the fuck did you buy the team anyways??? Can anyone honestly tell me that this is better than having Cuban own the team?

Maybe Jody Davis will get consideration for the big league managerial position. There are some days when I wouldn't mind seeing the manager pull the team off the field and take it to the house, and Jody apparently will do it.

Piniella will give Colvin a few days off because Colvin is struggling and his batting average is down to .258.

Ok, fine.

But Lee hasn't seen .258 all year, yet not only plays everyday but continues to hit #3 in the lineup.
<shrugs shoulders> I don't get it.

Why do Cub managers always seems to be so spineless...can't move Sosa out of the #3 spot (Baker) or Lee out of #3 (Piniella).

I don't know anything about LaHair or Snyder, but when September rolls around I would like to see these guys called up and given playing time and if Lee or Ramirez needs to sit fine...they haven't done jack all year.

The only reason I could possibly see for keeping Lee in the 3 hole and playing him damn near every day is that he would accumulate enough stats to become a type A free agent thus giving the cubs the first round pick of the team that signs him and a sandwich round pick. There is no way in hell he is going to be a type A free agent, hell he might not even qualify as a type b as it stands right now. Until someone else comes up he is going to play first (unless they gave Colvin some action there) because there is no one else that can. He should have been booted from the 3 hole long ago though.

Another glorious start.
8 pitches!! Those are some quality ab's there. Nothing like swinging at the first pitch and rolling one over followed by a slow as hell jog to first. That is the approach shitty teams use on the last day of the season so they can play a 2 hr game and take it to the house.

moving guys around as a knee-jerk reaction is worse...thats spineless, because ur giving in to the stupid media and fans that dont know what theyre talkin about...Lou juggled the lineup like crazy earlier in the year and that's what buried us....we actually started playing better once we stabilized the lineup a bit...Lee is comfortable at #3, u cant just move him out and expect him to react well...guys want stability and the manager's confidence...not sure why people dont get that

It should be about putting the best lineup out there, not making a declining veteran comfortable. Lou has put out a ton of different lineups this year and the one move he should make, he won't. Lee has no business being in the 3 hole anymore. I don't want a juggled lineup every day. I want Colvin or Byrd permanently in that spot.

What about the 8-13 record in the second half makes you think they started playing better?
Lee is comfrtable in the 3 hole and you can't expect him to react well to change?
Here's Lee's splits batting 3rd...
.246 avg, .331 OBP, .373 SLG, .704 OPS.
How much worse could he react?
And I don't think anyone gives a shit about stability when you're winning. Confidence comes from winning.
I'm pretty sure I disagree with your entire post.
But keep truckin man.

Makes sense.

So getting back to this game. Travis Wood has the no no going through 3 and is averaging 7.33 pitches per inning. The major league record I just found was 58 pitches. He is at 22 through 3 so it is still possible.

Rudy "the genius" will not let the Cub get no hit. Another great signing by Jimmy "the boob". How much did he pay Rudy? Did Sam Zell make him do that too?

This Coleman character has a little Eddie Harris in him. If you'll pardon the expression.
