Come on Whistler...haven't you seen the little stars on Quade's hat & jersey? You can't question that...Quade is an All Star coach!!!

"We didn't have Ramos as a squeeze guy," Cubs manager Mike Quade said.

Classic Quade right there. Bunting is a fundamental skill. Anyone should be able to put one down and unless you are slow as shit most players should be able to score from 3rd on it.

Best lineup of the year?

It would be if it were more like

Castro
Barney
Ramirez
Pena
Soto
Byrd
Soriano
Fuk
Garza

Why did Quade drop Barney?

Barney isn't hitting well. When he doesn't hit, his OBP is even worse.

Castro would be fine at either 1 or 2, but Kosuke usually hits well leading off.

Believe it or not, Kosuke hasn't started his big summer slide yet. Knock on wood.

edit: Before his recent past games, he was on a little slump. Maybe I should wait a week before I announce him 'slide-free.'

If you compare each of their last 10 games Barney is still hitting better. Fuk has lost 10 pts of his BA and Barney has lost 4. Barney also had to knock the DL rust off. I think Fuk has 7 hits in his last 10 games and Barney has 8 in his last 7(all he has played since coming off the DL). Fuk is down to .273 though its been a more subtle slide.

OBP is important at the top of the order. Kosuke's is still .378. Even when he isn't hitting he gets on base. Darwin Barney is at .319. Not even Starlin Castro has an .OBP less than .030 above his BA.

and quade putting out basically the same lineup with Reed Cobb leading off yesterday? If Quade weren't such a damn fool with every other decision I would say this is being done to get Castro and Barney in the places they will be hitting for years to come when Brett Jackson is finally called up to lead off 160 games per season.

All of this discussion is as if it matters if the Cubs win or not. Who gives a goddamn how the lineup is constructed. They have a chimp making out the card and a simp in charge of the roster. The only thing on the front office's mind should be who can they trade and what can they get in return. As a self-loathing Cub fan, I hate this team and I all it stands for. I will continue to watch, though.

These guys are so fucking bad. I'm sure the pitching may be better if the sorry ass hitters could ever give them a lead to work with.
Hendry got fleeced on the Grarza deal. I hate JimBoob.

So umm.....Quade....might want to get somebody up. He has given up 6 already this inning without recording an out.

Now its really time to play Cubs baseball.......the down by 7 meaningless 3 solo shot home runs......or Livan will deal for a CG shutout.

You are also self-loathing?

Hey, what do you do when you're down 8 runs? When you're a member of the 2011 Cubs, you try to stretch a single into a double and get thrown out by five feet.

Who was it? Byrd?

I hope this thing goes 15. He can't use carpenter....or shouldn't after yesterday so all he has left is woody and marmol and he has already used up 3 of the bench spots. Quade can sure burn through an entire lineup in a bullpen type game. Sometimes its ok to let a pitcher bat even if he is a reliever.

Holy shit. They tied this up? Haven't been back since it was 7-0.

I guess that would make losing this one worse after the comeback. Doesn't really matter either way at this point.
