Get the bunt down Garza!! Bunting with runners on 1st and 3rd with no one out is kinda weird unless the squeeze is on which it wasn't.

What in the hell is going on here? The team with the best record in baseball has been no hit by the Cubs pitching staff 2 nights in a row going into the 4th inning.

The walk numbers are the most important. With his ability, the power numbers will improve as his selectivity improves. I would be happy if he averages 15 or so homeruns per year the next fifteen seasons.

Phillies offense isnt really all that great, their pitching and defense are why they are where they are.

In my opinion, what this young man needs is his manager to have confidence in his ability to groove those line drives into the basket in left field. Maybe whisper in his ear durin' battin' practice or somethin'.

Cubs allow the 2 run lead in the top of the 9th.

Fuck these Cubs. Here is a legendary story from the Cubs past:

Bruce Boisclair hit a sinker at my feet. I caught it, but my glove opened up when it hit the ground, the ball rolled out and my cap covered it up. Jerry Martin came running over from center field. He’s laughing into his glove and yelling, “It’s under your bleeping cap.” The Bleacher Bums are shouting, “Hat! Hat! Hat!” Boisclair must have been confused, too, because he hesitated rounding second. That gave me time to pick the ball up and throw him out at third. [Laughter] I’ll bet no one remembers that, huh?

I was at the game tonight...Garza looked really pissed when Qball took him out, and Q's move backfired as usual.

What was with all the Philly fans in attendance? There must have been thousands of them -- disgusting.

Everything Sloth does regarding the pitching staff backfires. Garza had 117 and had given up hits to 3 of his last 4 hitters though so it was probably time.

His pitch count was high, but it's not like he was getting roughed up (he was working on a 4-hit shutout). Q pulled him so fast, he probably should have just let Marshall start the inning. My gut feeling (and I could be totally wrong), is that Quade is so desperate to be liked by his players that he let Garza stay in to get his ovation (rather than pulling him between innings).

Thats what I think every other manager would have done. With the game he had thrown, the pitch count and the fact that he was going to bat next inning he should have just pulled him after the 6th. The the idiot goes and pinch hits his boy Dewitt for absolutely no reason in the place of Baker. I have never seen someone just burn through pinch hitters in stupid situations during close games like this guy.

116 pitches in that heat and his spot comes up in the batting order is automatic to pull him..quade is just bush league in the big leagues.... and i also think quade was scared of garza snapping on him and making him look like even more of a joke than he already is.

Agree on the pitch count but the weather was actually quite pleasant at the game -- night and day from the blast furnace away from the lakefront.

100 degrees. Nice. Can't wait to see how Sloth botches up managing the pitchers today. The more I think about what he did last night the stupider it seems. He will probably let Demp go 9 in a 7 run CG loss with 165 pitches.

Well, it's already 5-0 Philly and Demp has like 64 pitches in 2 innings.
This is going to make the Cubs very, very beatable against the Central Matchups that are coming over the next few weeks.

Jesus. There's no one at this game. Granted it's hot as fuck but the seats are empty right behind home plate (and everywhere else)

Dempster has NOTHING today. He's not fooling anyone. I doubt he gets out of the 3rd. Quade should be getting someoen ready now, and it's just the start of the 3rd.

He is right on pace to meet my prediction. Not sure he will go for a CG loss as that would project to a pitch count of 258 though.
