Yes

Alrighty then. Teach your kids how to stand up to adversity. Just take it. Do nothing. Bury your head in the sand.

Good advice.

When one of the worst teams in baseball starts doing stuff like you are suggesting, they look like even bigger idiots.

Really?

Even Svuem acknowledged he has a team of boys playing against men.

What does Jim Hendry have to do with this?

Just ask the payroll dept for guys like Zambrano and Soto still pulling down major coin from the Cubs for sucking elsewhere.

Showing the opposition that you can't just walk up to home plate and tee off by throwing a brushback pitch is Baseball 101 my friend...

There's a difference between backing someone off the plate and intentionally trying to hit someone.

Throwing at people doesn't do anything but get people suspended.

Hitters aren't intimidated anymore.

I am not advocating hitting someone, but rather the time honored tradition of the brush back pitch.

You have to send a message is sports. If you knock my guy down, I will knock your guy down. It's called protecting your teammates back.

Sometimes that brush back pitch results in a guy getting hit on the ass. That's baseball.

But no one is knocking down Cubs.

They're beating the everloving shit out of them.

Hitting guys because you suck isn't a good strategy.

You obviously haven't watched the WASH games (and I don't blame you) but WASH has gone back to back like three times in the series and the Cubs pussy pitchers have done nothing but take it. Only 1 guy through a pitch high and tight. All these other guys, like Volstad, just keep getting pummeled and do nothing but hang their heads like the beaten opposition that they are.

Do you think Ted Lilly would do that (an example of a modern day player)...

Fuck no. Someone is going down.

I agree about having to throw inside to try and back guys off the plate.

It sounded like you just wanted to have Cubs pitchers hit someone because they gave up a HR.

No, just get back control of the game by throwing inside. One of the back to back homers actually was back to back PITCHES and still the Cubs pitchers did nothing.

It was embarrassing.

We suck, so we're going to start throwing at you. We'll teach you! That isn't heart, that's stupidity.

Maybe instead of beaning them they should take a few of the Nationals out for drinks and dinner and find out why they're so much better at playing baseball than the Cubs are.

I am no fan at ever throwing at someone...it just is not right you could end a guy's career...but Soler..Castro..Rizzo is a decent start to rebuilding..I think this off season a complete house cleaning is coming and I am looking forward to next season.

Bring back Fyle Farnsworth. Nobody dug in against that guy. Maybe that's one reason he's still in the league??

wow is right. Yeah, let's teach the kids to throw at people, lose our composure (see: Lilly, Ted) and that's really gonna make 'em better!

Better yet, let's teach our guys that after you get pounded, do more of the same so you get pounded again. Then get released, hook on in AAA for a couple more years, then disappear into oblivion as most of these "pitchers" on the Cubs staff will.

or

Get tough, make the hitter uncomfortable in the box by throwing inside or utilizing chin music, and get outs.

I really don't enjoy insulting people in person, or on a message board. Unless it's enjoyable. But you really can't be this off. Farnsworth was abusing alcohol and PED's his entire time with the Cubs. Almost all of the incidents you hold so fondly were on his own. The reason he's still in the league is because he can pump 98 regularly, and probably still has great masking agents.

I want to offer an explanation of what I hope you mean. You don't want the team to simply accept getting spanked hard. You'd like to see a pitching staff that establishes the inside corner, which is a big part of baseball. The problem is the majority of the current Cubs pitching staff can't do that. Much of that comes from having the velocity and control. That makes you a top level pitcher. Otherwise, you're a headhunting assclown, which you seem to not only find acceptable, but the type of guy you want.

"chin music" is as old as the game itself. 12 HR's in two games? Like I have suspected all year, the Cubs "coaches" are sleeping. Why is it acceptable for Sveum to have a crap team and manage like he doesn't care but Dusty Baker & the other bald guy last year are mocked.
