RPB,

2 things about Baylor. He liked to bunt and he wanted things done his way. He insisted the Cubs fire Oscar Acosta, the pitching coach and he was at odds with SuperStar Sosa during his time here. So though you think the things you say to me make sense, they are not actually backed up with fact. So keep tooting your horn. At least you can hear it if I can't.

I read and heard everything Baylor ever said on the Cubs. There was no feud with Sosa. Hammer doesnt feud with the nail. He tried to call him out and he got put in his place by management who were too busy counting money from Sosa's output to care what the fuck Baylor said. And Baylor's idea that a guy who was averaging 60 homers a year should bunt, was one of the worst ideas in the history of baseball.

Dont think for a second you know any more about the Cubs than I do (or anyone else on this board) because you're old and consistently bitch. We've all suffered with them Jimmy. You just post non sensical bullshit like this and Sox fans use it to troll Cub fans. You are a Sox fan's toy.

It's Renteria spouting the nonsensical bullshit and guys like you placating him.
I think Sox fans enjoy you supporting the unreachable "plan" more than anything.

Except I dont support any plan and dont placate him. Another swing and a miss.

Its possible to be an unhappy Cub fan, incredibly easy actually, while using things that make sense.

Not signing a power hitting right fielder
getting outbid for players
Trades falling thru

So much to rip, but you choose to rip Renteria (not the totally obvious bad bullpen moves and poor strategy) but for not ripping the young players hard enough.

This is why people call you a meatball and are correct in doing so.

You've admitted before you just like to bitch and many times when fact checked your ramblings come back as incorrect. This is the same deal.

Oh here's Baker on Corey Patterson

Baylor said he would ease Patterson into the lineup, giving him some starts against right-handers at center field and left field.

"The patience part will be the entire thing," Baylor said. "We don't want him to come up and think he has to be the savior of the Chicago Cubs."

WHAT THE FUCK? WHY DIDNT HE JUST SAY COREY ISNT GOOD ENOUGH TO HIT LEFTIES? GRRR!!!

I can easily find quotes from the other two, but since everyone (including you) knows Im right, let's just agree that the Cubs suck, you're mad about it but have no idea who or what to blame.

Jimmy wants to go back to the days of Dusty Baker? Was there ever a bigger "Player's Manager" in recent Cubs history than Dusty?

C'mon Jimmy...

"Young Joey Votto"

I'm not sure why this is such a big deal

He's a left handed first baseman in the NL central who is walking a lot. Its a natural comparison. I mean he's not as good as Votto and might not ever be but he's having a Vottoish year to date

yes, I do. I want a guy who says "we have a lot of potential, but we're not sure what the ceiling is on some of these guys. I don't know exactly what we have yet".

Unreasonable expectation.

The guy gave a shorter version of what you want. And he pretty much said that /\ in his further comments.

You guys are just looking for a witch to burn, like Rick said.

Go after Ricketts, Theo, Jed, Crane Kenny, Renteria's strategic moves.

Anything but, "he didnt rip the players hard enough in the media"

I tune into the Cubs a few days ago and watch Ryan Kalish batting against a leftie. First, he should never bat again. Second, he should be platooning at very best.

Kalish is batting .276, compared to how the rest of the team has done this year so far that is pretty good.

I understand that. I just don't see him as a future player. Maybe if they're showcasing him, I suppose.

He has been okay as a backup outfielder. Especially considering the long history of injury he is recovering from.

The strikeouts are way too high for the type of hitter he is...but he is left-handed with a fair amount of athleticism.

To summarize - he isn't a problem.

He is young, and every MLB team needs a fifth outfielder. A guy that can play all 3 OF positions well...can hit .250+ and can run the basepaths... that is a guy every team can use as a 5th outfielder.

It's because it indicates that he is on his way to having the same career as Joey Votto. He isn't saying, "one day, he may be similar to Joey Votto", he is saying that he is a younger version of Joey Votto. Imagine right now if I called Abreu a "young Frank Thomas". You'd rightfully be laughing at me.

In Votto's 4th year in MLB, he was on his way to winning the MVP, and then being 6th, 14th, and 6th the three years after that. Are those really your expectations for Rizzo going forward?

Abreu = Chris Shelton or Chris Duncan playing in mostly hitter friendly ballparks.

He will be the first of the current batch of well known cuban hitters to be playing with the Seibu Lions.

Future me is sorry for your loss.

Well, Votto is not Frank Thomas, but the comparison is more about their style of play. Rizzo is following the Votto model. If you said Abreu hits to RF like Frank did that would be fine.

I understand why it looks bad at a glance though.

The answer to your question is in my quote.

Like I said, he's Votto-ish. I get taking exception, but I also see where IMU is coming from.

Abreu is not Shelton

Abreu reminds me of Hideki Matsui production wise. Not sure if he has the porn collection.

IMU mad that Abreu is gonna hit 50 bombs this year. Maybe he only gets 7 in April, 1 in May, and 24 for the season...

There are ways to say that though. "He plays like Votto". "He has similar characteristics". Not he's a "young Joey Votto". That indicates that with time he becomes "Joey Votto".

I've given him ample opportunities to clarify that he doesn't think Rizzo will become Joey Votto. You don't need to backtrack for him when he has no desire to do so.
