Opening day has sold out. Merchandise sold at a very fast pace as soon as it became available. Big dough plowed into the facilities.

Northern Indiana -- at least east of the NW corner -- has always been Cubs territory as far as MLB popularity, with the Sox and Tigers trailing far behind. My next-door neighbors were flying a Cubs flag for years. You rarely detect support for other teams (although some like me want the Sox to do well too).

This will be a very profitable association for the Cubs, but the bloom is likely to come off the rose eventually -- the same way the College Football Hall of Fame finally dumped SB.
