Yes, Sappelt has hit lefties well. Reed has been very productive the last 2 years but yea, not much trade value really.

Heck, Reed Johnson is certainly valuable to a contender as a 4th OF. He's defense is probably above average and he gets the bat on the ball. The Cubs would likely trade him for a middling prospect in A ball.

Koyie Hill is not with the Cubs anymore... shockingly. Some other team actually took him.

He is with the Nationals AAA team and a guarantee without evening looking it up that he is hitting better than Dewitt is in Iowa.

They are having to make this a 3 team discussion because the Dodgers will only offer shitty prospects and because Dempster is a huge Vajay.

Dempster is going to hear it from the hecklers at Wrigley. And well deserved. What's he pulled down from the Cubs? 60M?? 70M?

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Dodgers rejected an offer that would have sent Cubs right-hander Ryan Dempster to Los Angeles for prospect right-hander Allen Webster. People briefed on the talks are saying the the Dodgers are only willing to offer a couple of lesser pitcher who may project as relievers in the long run

Saw that a few minutes ago. Fuck trading with them. Having to involve a 3rd team is a joke. I hope this asshole projects to be a reliever for the rest of the season.

It would be glorious if during his next start he got the hook after 1 pitch.

Teams are not impressed with Dempster and npt going to give up much for a guy who wets the bed in the post season...he is 35 or so, had a nice run for a month and it is all downhill from here..he is a 3rd starter in the N.L. ..nothing more...I just want him gone..get anything just get him out of here.

Teams would also rather have a focused pitcher and not a comedian side show drama queen.

Wait until he gets traded to the Brewers for Greinke and the Cubs have to be in the same division as he is.

Now the Dodgers have focused their attention to Garza. They don't even want captain dipshit america.

I would rather keep Garza than trade him to the Dodgers.

You really think the Braves were willing to give up this amazing prospect to rent a player for a few games? It seems to me that the trade was always dependent on him being there long term and I can't blame a guy for not wanting to spend the next few years in Atlanta.

He's not an amazing prospect. He is a good one.

The trade was not dependent on an extension according to Atlanta's GM

I don't think they were requiring an extension. They just wanted some cash to help them out if they invoked the team option that he would have declined anyways. They same team option that Theo will invoke to get the draft pick when he signs elsewhere. Its going to make it harder for him to sign elsewhere but thats his problem now.

There's no team option on Dempster's contract for next season. He's a free agent after the season.

Then they have to make a 1 yr offer to him or something in order to get the draft pick return.
