Sounds like the Dempster to Dodgers talks are dead according to Buster Olney. Looks like Demp and Garza will be here until the end of the year. Not much real value on the team. Cubs could back some lesser prospects for many of the other crap on the team.

I've heard that Ryan Dempster prefers staying in the National League. I don't think he's interested in switching sides.

If you could take the 4 players and put a percent chance on whether they could help the Cubs down the line...

Dempster: 0%
Barney: 8%
Beckham: 8%
Jones 5%



Dempster is 0 because you can always sign him back. Trading him and losing him this year means nothing.

There has to be someone else in that organization the Cubs want other than Allen Webster. I guess they can hold their breath and stomp their feet until tomorrow afternoon but eventually they're going to have to take something for him or sweeten the pot with something better than Soriano.
