I remember they use to be so anti-cubs for years. Except for murph. Weren't they the Sox station for some years too?

Are they all pro cubs now weekdays? That putz Bernstien is forced to say good things now about the Cubs?

Bochey is the best manager in baseball. If IT was Bochey he would have left Lester in since he was rolling and subbed the LFer.

But Maddon gambled and it worked tonight.

maddon managed with hubris tonight; he knew that the giants were done when baez hit that HR. the way the game had played out (epic pitching duel where both pitchers are getting stronger and stronger) meant that the giants were just 100.0% totally done for in the top of the 9th, especially with the wind blowing in as much as it was*.

lester only had 86 pitches after 8th, but my guess is that maddon wanted to get chapman into a playoff game to get whatever nerves/jitters/etc he might have out of his system. i think they said that chapman technically had 2 appearances in the postseason b4 tonight, but those were for a dusty-led reds team; this was his first REAL postseason appearance for a legit contender with actual expectations to win the damn world series. maddon pretty much knew that the game was over because even the most likely way of blowing the save, a solo HR, would take some kind of epic blast that hearkens the end of the natural. remember that asterik i had up there? this is why you're allowed to skypoint and say "THANK YOU JESUS!" every now and then #BuckFernstein!

TLDR = maddon flexed some hubris tonight in knowing that the giants were 100% done by the way the cubs took the lead. if the cubs got the go-ahead HR in the bottom of the 7th lester comes out to finish that game IMO, but because it was a B8 HR and the giants were pitching/playing so damn well.... when you KNOW you're winning the game tonight you might as well have chapman dip his toes in the playoff pool so if he has to do a cannonball tomorrow he's not gonna be worried that the water is cold, you know what i'm saying?

I am completely fine with taking Lester out for Chapman. That is why you went out and got him.

If Lester stays in the game and gives up the tying or winning run people are saying Maddon is crazy for not going to his big gun in the pen.

Great game. I cannot believe Baez's ball was only in the basket. He killed that thing.

Don't know; neither does Google. That probably is indicative of the answer.

For your listening enjoyment.

On the year, the Giants were trailing after the 8th inning in 63 different games.

They were 0-63 in those games.

Now it's 64.

:D

If bringing in Chappy was the first and final decision then I am fine with it. If it was a combination of well maybe I can get these 2 dipshits at bats and then I can just go to the Closer.....idk. I hope pitcher batting had no role in it.

man, i wanted to reply to this with just the in/famous quote from latroy hawkins in 2004 when he blew one of many saves down the stretch for the 04 cubs and in a postgame interview he was like "if i throw a fastball and he hit it you're going to say 'why didn't he throw a curveball?' if i throw a curveball and he hit it you're going to say 'why didn't you throw the fastball?' .... you can't do what i do, but i can do what you do"

the !!!!! about that quote was that latroy basically made a really fucking stupid 0-2 pitch to a fastball hitter (likely in some sort of dick measuring contest where he wanted to show dude up by proving he couldn't hit latroy's FB so for all intents and purposes latroy grooved him one and thus he got got and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory) so when the reporter/s asked him about the pitch sequence he flipped the fuck out and basically said "HATERS GONNA HATE!!!!" and then punctuated it with that "YOU CAN'T DO WHAT I DO BUT I CAN DO WHAT YOU DO!" quote (Cubs?) #Legend

are there any stats for what the giants' record was when they were trailing after 9 innings? i seriously need to know cuz i'm looking to prove that heaven exists (since i might by driving by there if the cubs win the world series)

what's the guy in the upper left corner of that picture doing? my guess is that his nipples are some kind of perma/erect and therefore his exuberance is leading to some legit category 3 chafing so he's trying to do some kinky adjustments on the fly to soothe his aching nipples? idk. dude is definitely up to something weird/goofy/kinky/???? and now i gotta know what =/

Great game. Baez killed that ball. Landing in the basket didn't do it justice. There is no way Zobrist should of been in LF still in the 9th. He looked shaky out there all night. Heyward really shouldn't be playing. He should just stand at the plate, don't bother to swing. Really didn't have to put Cog on the roster, he's bad. Hopefully Hendricks proves the season wasn't a fluke and dominates tomorrow night. Need to be up 2-0 facing Madbum.

That was nice. Even got a high five from Chairman Ricketts down by the Giants' bullpen.

That Baez kid might stick around for a while.

After watching the highlights, it's amazing how valuable Baez was tonight, even in things that don't make the scoresheet.

He laid the tag on Ross's pick-off play (which MANY would have fucked up). He hit the bomb, of course. And he also made the last play, which Ben Zobrist never would have made. Baez is the goods. He's an idiot, but he's the goods.

How many more chances does Hayward get? In a short series you can not wait for a season long slump to end in the playoffs.

Zobrist almost killed the Cubs in LF,too. Game 2 should have Cogs,Soler & Montero in the lineup.
