But whats the point. Let the new GM do it. It shows that you are letting the new GM control the destiny of the team going forward.

Question...when is it clear Ricketts waited too long in signing a new GM? I wonder if the guy has a plan that he can actually implement.

There's something to be said for strong ownership and a clear direction for the team. Which we obviously agree has nothing to do with Mike Quade as a manager. The new GM isn't going to be upset because he couldn't fire Quade. I know it probably ultimately doesn't matter, but I'd like to see Ricketts act with some decisiveness about such an obvious situation

And I for one would like him to make the right decision concerning the new GM. I could give a crap about how he handles Quade.

It's not like Quade is going to screw up the Cubs off season by getting hair all over the dugout. He isn't a liabilty again until spring training starts. Plenty of time to fire him between now and then.

Quade is probably already in Arizona hawking over the Arizona Fall League games and the instructional league.

Finally. That's the way you do it what you take over an organization. You act swiftly & decisively. I like it.

That depends on how you define major league experience. Did he say major league managing experience?

Managing or coaching experience

Ryno spent the last 5 weeks of the MLB season as a bench coach with the Phillies.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Agree with your recent flag carrying that he's one of the greatest of all time and a sure fire HOF manager. But I just don't know. It'd physically pain me to root for him and I'm not sure he isn't starting to slip a bit esp. considering the glaring errors he made during the playoffs.

Is Brenley really meatball?

A successful major league manager?

Francona NO
Valentine YES
LaRussa HELL YES

I don't see Theo hiring an old timer like Valentine LaRussa though.

Actually, the more I think about this, Sandberg would be a good bench coach for whoever Theo hires as Manager, since Ryno coached & managed many of the Cubs payers & knows the organization an every level.

Wanting the announcer is the meatball part.

Brenly might be an ok manager. I find the fact that he has gotten 0 job offers since being fired after riding two aces to a world sereis to be kind of damning.

And regarding that WS. Brenly made a ton of terrible moves (B Kim) Schilling and Johnson kept bailing him out.

I aslo think people take Brenly's old school baseball approach and think he'll manage that way. Im not so sure. Its easy to tell Ramirez to hustle from the booth. Not so easy when you are a manager.

I mentioned Valentine because of the MLB experience thing.

I wish we could poach Davey Johnson actually

Actually that last paragraph is the part that bothers me most.

Im not sure who I want.

People really hate LaRussa as a Cardinal?

To me he's always been above it. Not in a better than way, but just that he's his own character of mlb outside of any Cub Cards rivalry

I respect him like Bill the Butcher respected the Priest

Good analogy.

And I see what you mean as far as "announcer as manager".

The day LaRussa retired I told my Son that the Cards will consider hiring Sandberg as Manager.
