I don't buy that. He already had first hand knowledge of the organization. Their input, other than contract, should have meant little to him.

Their contract was comparatively underwhelming.

If you google Jon Lester, this is the first story and Espn has a four parter on "Boston's Blunder"

I was imprecise in my language. I don't dispute it is being said. I think they are incorrect.

I understood, I was just showing my work.

I like Lester, but it's not like they let 26 year old Greg Maddux walk

One team is trending up, with sky as the limit.

One team is scrambling to make moves just to fight for third place in their division.

It was an easy choice for anyone with a bit of pride.

I didn't know the Lester had even considered the White Sox.

I feel the Cubs overpaid for Lester, but whoever got him was going to overpay. He's a genuine top of the rotation guy, but his best is probably not going to be in the future, but in the rear-view mirror. That said, he makes the team better and it's surely a sign that the days of selling off parts is over. It's time to begin playing for post-season berths and let the fun begin!

Just a reminder... Lester did, in fact, sign with the Cubs.

I don't think Cubs fans have to troll. The organization's success over the next 5 years and more should speak enough for all of us.

Solid investments pay a return.

So you're banking on FUTURE returns?

Ouch!

Investors in GOOGL also had to bank on future returns. That was unfortunate for them, wasn't it?

He probably noticed that it was a terrible analogy.

Let the always enlightening 'SI Cover Curse' talk begin ... which is about as bad as starting an article with an exhibition on how one doesn't understand how sports betting odds works.

A tribute? He is stealing the number of one of the Great Cubs of recent vintage, a number that should be properly retired. But Theo cares naught for the great Cub traditions and Cub heroes past. He is pissing in the loyal Cub fan's face from his big circumcised cock. And you are smiling as he does so in the futile hope that he will bring you the coveted World Series you so desire. In another year or so when Theo skulks out of town in his gorilla suit, what will you have left? A roster full of busted prospects and yellow stains upon the storied visage of Cubdom. And you will have lost your noble Cubbie soul. It's a modern baseball tragedy the likes of which will go down in history along side such other baseball calamities as Christy Mathewson being gassed by the Huns, Lou Gehrig coming down with his own disease, and Pete Rose losing games on purpose.

It was a metaphor, Chris. A man would have to have a mighty big set of balls to waltz into Chicago and take away the number of the Great Kerry Wood. TheoandJedandJason are like a litter of puppies shitting all over the immaculate Cub household.

Your take on Kerry Wood is much different than it was when he struck out Dayan Viciedo for the manufactured moment that you hated so much
