What's your favorite pizza place? Do you enjoy getting robbed in Rogers Park?

Vito and Nick's

Havent been to Rogers Park in years. Lived there less than a year but it just happened to be the year I came up with the moniker.

Dipshit Doug Gottlieb just announced Heyward is a perfect 6th or 7th hitter.

Listen,I know Heyward may be the better player but do you really chase this guy with a 100 mil-something contract when you already have a LH bat on your team with similar stats?

Yes. Heyward will be fine. Coglan has sucked since his rookie season and isn't close to the same player defensively.

Heyward will be fine? Thanks for the belly laugh.

I know Heyward is the better player BUT my point was is he 100-mil better than Cogs and worth signing. Answer was and certainly is now= NO.

Bring Back Matt Murton!

the narrative will be that the money doesn't matter as it will not prevent them from signing other players

Ricketts needs to start looking at some of Theo's free agent signings. Going back to the Red Sox,he has made some really bad deals.

Theo's strength is early rounds in the draft and reclamation project trades. Its a good strength to have.

As with everything Cubbie, fans and the media take a good and distort it to the point that it becomes gaudy and grotesque....like the newly monied immigrant family putting cement cast lions in front of their mansion

Another tool on ESPN 1000 making excuses for Heyward. "Well he saves a lot of runs on defense."

Well, if he drove in more runs (i.e. try hitting a homer) and got on base more often, the Cubs wouldn't need him to save as many runs on defense. Don't hedge, just admit it- it has been a poor signing in every way up until this point. Keep in mind, if they had played him in center as originally intended, he would look a lot like Eaton did with the Sox in center. Eaton has "improved" defensively by moving to right.

I'm not defending Jason Heyward compared to his contract...but I will defend Jason Heyward as a player.

You can almost add defensive runs saved with a player's RBI and get a better idea of their affect on the game. 95% of players have such small defensive runs saved (or given up via errors) that it isn't worth looking at.

But with guys like Andrelton, Russell, Heyward, Eaton, Arenado... the statistic can actually be significant and does increase their value to some degree.

It certainly doesn't make Heyward a $25M player, but he isn't 'just' a .627 OPS player either. This year is certainly lost for him...but I've not given up on his ability to contribute. He is a solid baseball player. He just needs to regroup...probably in the offseason. Get those hands figured out.

Going on WAR alone, Jason Heyward is having a better season than Mark Trumbo. Get the fuck out of here.

Heyward's a complete waste. If he didn't have that contract, he'd have been benched a while ago. So his contract does matter. Defensive replacement value only. He makes crap contact.
