I see him getting paired with Hammel, like the original plan for Schwarber this season.

Lackey might get pissy with a young catcher, and Hendricks probably does well with a great game caller.

Maddon will handle that. A real Manager. But that means nothing.

Im sure this didnt happen either. Fact is you are the one who said it.

You are making these ridiculous claims, so the burden of proof is on you.

As long as they are 10 up, I see Contreras catching someone like Hammel or Lackey against some bad teams. They realize the reason, it won't be a big deal.

If they are still 10 up at the ASB, I expect both Montero and Ross to get a 15 day DL stint to get some rest for the post season. They are catchers, there is always something they can claim.

I'm guessing Hammel or Hendricks but I guess Lackey is possible. I'm anxious to see him play. I would think he catches pretty quick, or what was the point of calling him up? very disappointing how far Montero has fallen off this season. Not only his offense, but defense too.

Joe Maddon hopes to keep rookie 'solvent' with 3-catcher rotation

Cubs manager Joe Maddon laid out his plan for a three-headed catching rotation on Monday, indicating Miguel Montero will catch for Jake Arrieta while David Ross will be behind the plate for Jon Lester.

"If we can get Contreras two out of five, possibly a three spot once in a while, I think that can keep him somewhat solvent," Maddon said.

Montero says he recommended Contreras to his agent last year when he saw the prospect at Double-A while he was rehabbing an injury. This came as Contreras was starting to make headlines. Incidentally, Montero's agent signed him and Contreras has not slowed since.

"He's the guy of the future for the Cubs," Montero said. "At this point in my career, in this clubhouse, it's about winning. Stats don't concern me. I call a good game. That's a big part. My pitchers are doing great.

"I'm not afraid to lose my job. I've always said that because I know what I'm capable of doing, and if I can help someone else in the same position I'd be more than happy. [Kyle] Schwarber last year and now Contreras. When I retire and go home I would like the catchers that took my job to say 'man, he helped me so much' -- not that he hates me. He likes me and I did something good."

Great stuff from Montero. Definitely want you want from a veteran. I have no doubt Contreras will be better because of him and Ross

I loved reading the comments by Montero. Class act. I'm happy to see Contreras catching again tonight. the kid is full of energy and has a great arm. When so many were all excited about things last year, I said it was a year early and with guys like Almora and Contreras (as well as Glyber Torres) as well as the free agents I assumed were coming, that 2016 would begin the era of sustained excellence and it has indeed begun. It is likely to just get better as the young players learn and improve and even more are brought along. it's so exciting to STILL have these young players coming up as they are. What a great job they have done of acquiring and developing young players.

If he keeps hiring like this I may grow to accept the extra L in his name.

Has reached base in all 11 games of his career, only 1 game hitless. Slashing .355 .459 .677.
