Schwarber can bat against Carrasco just to keep everything fair.

I'm not sure if he can hit or not right now, but I wouldn't mind seeing him DH games 1 & 2 and say his knee flared up if he looks awful and take him off the roster.

I can't see how in the hell he'd have his timing back after 2 AFL games but what do I know?

Having said that, maybe he can run into a ball or two...

No. Hoyer said no decision until tonight after they discuss it.

This is a bad idea...

From the Score...

Quote:
(CBS) Kyle Schwarber is en route to Cleveland on a private jet and will join the Cubs for Game 1 of the World Series as the designated hitter, according to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports.

Schwarber played in the Arizona Fall League on Monday, going 1-3 with a double to right field. The Cubs sent him to the Mesa Solar Sox on Saturday to get him ready for a potential appearance in the World Series.

The Cubs have yet to confirm Schwarber’s presence for the World Series. Joe Maddon spoke of Schwarber during media day on Monday.

“He’s swinging the bat well,” Maddon said. “He’s running really well, actually.

“Right now, he’s doing everything well and right. He’s given us another option to think about.”

Schwarber suffered a torn ACL and LCL during the first week of the regular season. He was ruled out for the year initially, a stance Cubs officials stood by all season. However, his status changed when team doctors cleared him to swing last Monday.

The injury Schwarber suffered tends to come with a minimum six-month recovery. He worked ahead of schedule mostly and was able to get clearance shortly after the six-month mark.

Schwarber hit a Cubs playoff record five home runs in 2015.

Do they really need Schwarber to win this series?

My answer to that would be no.

My answer would be "maybe". But it only matters if he can hit. They don't need 0-4s. I'm baseball smart to know that.

Well he is not worse than the other options.

Is he?

He can't field, he will likely be replaced with a pinch runner late in a close game, he hasn't seen an MLB pitch in almost 6 full months. At Wrigley, the Cubs are basically playing with a 24 man roster.

I just think its a gamble that doesn't need to be made at this point. They didn't need him to win ~95 of their games, they didn't need him to beat the Giants or Dodgers, and they shouldn't to beat the Indians.

The Indians are a hell of a lot better than SF or LA.

The Cubs are a hell of a lot better than the Indians so what is your point exactly.

The point is even though the Cubs were better then the Dodgers they found themselves down 2-1. Yes. They won it.

The point is the best team doesn't always win and if you can add a better player, you do it.

Like I've said before, you could have the Twins play the Cubs, right now, and it wouldn't be impossible for even the lowly twins to beat the Cubs in a 7 game series. Even though the Cubs are clearly a better team.

I'm not so sure about that scooter, you seem pretty confident.. Did ya watch Cleveland dismantle Toronto n Boston?

Boston scored more runs than anybody in MLB.

I was more worried about playing Toronto than Cleveland. Both really good but did not want the Jays if I had a choice.

Id rather see Schwarber in the lineup not having faced any live pitching in 6 months rather than Fowler.

Miggy has a weak arm, Jake kinda slow to home..if he pitched like Lester he could get his personal catcher..he hasn't.

His performance in two games in the AFL is just about meaningless. I think it was Bernstein who, in mocking Tebow's o-fer streak, said it was a hitters' league with garbage pitching. He's gonna go from that to Klueber? As much as Coghlan blows, he's the better option.
